Under what circumstances do you block people on social media?

Certainly not for having a difference of opinion, but I do block people for being obnoxious and intolerable.
I only have so much time, and when I log on briefly before or after a day's work, I want to read interesting posts from people I can have a good interaction with (thankfully there are many such cool people on here).
Why then would I spend precious time reading and responding to the outspewings of someone like Ben Isaacs? Maybe if I had nothing else to do, but I have got something else to do.
There's a funny story though, I'm on a forum where I ignore two people for the above reasons and they've got a bitter feud with each other!
So they often have blazing rows, dominating a thread with their hatred for each other, and I barely even hear about it other than when someone I don't ignore remarks on it.

IF . . . . you could be an ELEPHANT for a day (a big African Beast!) , whom might you wish to put you trunk around, and swing about, like on a 'FAIRGROUND-RIDE' for a thrill ??! ~ ~ ~ ~ // ~ ~ ~ ~ (alternatively: to scare shitless?) !!

I'd pick up Donald Trump and not put him down until he agreed to do something about the environment.
Surely it's now obvious that environmental issues (yes, including climate change, and also deforestation, plastic pollution) are affecting both rich and poor around the world?
An elephant is in the best position to know this and I'd also bring some Ents along for backup.

Hello ? 1. How did your week go? 2. Is it just me or have you also been having trouble with anons and/or insidious accounts slipping into your feeds this week? For me it’s been a week of trolls, some of them trying to catch me out by starting off nice! Anyway, hope you are doing good ?

Yes, that Ben Isaacs has resumed his trolling. I always wonder how he chooses the people to shout at across all his accounts. Does he have a hand-written list of all the people he hates?
My week went well, my brother who lives in Singapore is back for the summer so we did a lot of family stuff. He has gone to Helsinki (I'm jel!) so I won't see him fir a bit which is sad but I admit it's a relief that I can stop going out so much as I'm not made of money and I'm not a wild party animal.
This time last week I was in Wales and it was terrific.

I'm really pleased by how I captured the tides and I think the Led Zeppelin quote works as it describes the bittersweet nature of no longer being there.

I said to this Frenchie today “approximately 6000 or our men defeated 36000 of your men in the battle of agincourt, one of the many victories of the English over the French” this started when he was trash talking me on a game.

How are they your men?

What is the most boring job you can imagine?

Working in a warehouse, wtf is that all about?
When I was a student I worked in a warehouse and it was shit, we handled CDs and DVDs (some of an adult nature) and the first thing I did when for money was to put 80 CD singles of I Believe In A Thing Called Love by The Darkness into a box and put it back on the conveyor belt to be sent to a shop.
I hate that band, they were never any good, but if soneone was willing to pay me to put their songs in abox then I'd gladly take the money and get drunk.
I also worked in a factory and at Royal Mail, then I was unemployed, then I got a job working in accounts
(I'm not especially qualifiedto do this in a formal sense, byt I've since learnt the reason I got the job is that literally no one else applied!?)
But I know personally that some jobs are worse than the one I have now and unemployment is even worse, I don't needto imagine!?

This question is inspired by the recent news that the U.K. government has instructed corporations and organisations to stockpile food, medicine and blood in the case of a “hard” or “no-deal” Brexit. If there was some kind of disaster where you are which THREE NON OBVIOUS THINGS would you stockpile?

CactusDoug’s Profile PhotoDoug
I basically need my thyroid tablets to survive, so tablets and water would top the list (presumably money would be useless in this scenario).
Also, while a phobe and the internet may be out of use in the apocalypse, I'd need my ipod charger at all times, for what I should hope were obvious reasons.
Given that most things would no longer be any use, and I'm guessing "obvious" covers bottled water, the third non-obvious thing would be a bag of Waitrose fruit & nut mix as when I was planting trees and doing manual work on a Scottish hillside, it was what I needed to sustain me.
Of course, the best thing of all woukd be to leave things alone and stop buggering them up like Johnson and Rees-Mogg want to do as I haven't got their offshore investments, though I suppose their worldly wealth won't help them when the time comes.
Don't think I could outlive the legend though!

How do you get rid of stress and negative energy?

I generally don't, but have you tried swimming?
I swam in the sea at abersoch yesterday, whether it be the sea, a river or a lake (maybe a pool if you can't find a clean source of water outdoors but it isn't quite so good), the swim is what it's all about.

Say something that can be useful to others. ♡

A hard-won lesson from life is one from the excellent book Paris, by Edward Rutherfurd, a fictional history of Paris through the ages that must have been a nightmare to write but is a joy to read.
The city I live in
http://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/tagged/stoke-on-trent
is very poor and deprived and people often leave the area if they can and try to play down where they come from and even try to lose their accents etc. And I think this is very much the wrong thing to do.
The section of the book I refer to is set in 1299, and a Jewish man hears from his Christian friend that a new persecution of the Jews is about to start so he converts to Christianity to spare himself and his family. The rabbi comes round and confronts him for "betraying" the Jews.
' "You call me a fool" the rabbi said. "But it is you who are the fool, Jacob. You convert. You join the Christians. And now you think, now I shall be safe. But you are wrong. This I know, and this I shall tell you". He shook his head.
"You are a Jew Jacob. And no matter what you do, no matter what the Christians say- believe me- you will never be safe" '.
Now I'm not Jewish and I've never faced that level of persecution but I think you and most people here can easily understand the universal message here.
Be yourself and don't change to suit others, as if people don't like you as they are due to snobbery, racism or whatever, their opinion isn't worth it and besides they'll like you even less if you pretend to be something you're not (this never works anyway).
Jacob learnt this eventually and when the Jews were cast out he stopped trying to be a Christian and went into exile with his people.
Therefore, don't do what Jacob did originally, learn the lesson he learnt at the end and do it now!

the stranglers said there are no more heroes but david bowie said we can be heroes, so which is right?

Surely we can work towards a synthesis of these positions.
There are currently no heroes, hence the Stranglers are right. But if we work on our herorism we can become heroes, and in future there will be heroes, so Bowie is right.
The Stranglers didn't say there won't be heroes in the future and Bowie didn't say there are heroes now, so we can harmonise the two positions and rock out!

Tell me something good that happened to you this week. ♡

I had a really enjoyable trip to where my brother is staying yesterday.
http://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/post/176063142744/beloved-charnwood-could-i-hymn-thy-praise
My brother and sister in law are teachers and live in Singapore, but came back in England for the summer and they are staying in this village near where her parents live. So I enjoyed my visit there, but got drunk on beer; I normally drink spirits and assumed beer would be easier to drink, a view I no longer hold the day after drinking 4 pints of it :)
The city of Leicester is one I'll hopefully visit soon, I used to often visit as my brother lived there for 12 years but I haven't been back since he moved out in 2010. I'd like to go there as it's a good city and is famous for being the place where Richard III was found.
So that's a good experience that leaves me hoping for more!

If you could take some special skill from any animal, which animal and which skill would you choose?

I'd learn from ants the ability to get things done!
Have you ever seen an ant colony? Well, lots of scientists have been looking at them to see if they can learn anything about the world from their antics.

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways and be wise!
