What is the worst excuse you've ever heard?

WELL DONE BREXSHITTERS, you've torn my country apart and fucked your own lives over (good luck getting a far-right Tory government to match that EU funding) and have only yourselves to blame for the worsening of your own living conditions that will inevitably ensue.

Why do we presume that our politicians and government are so god-like that we blame them for every misfortune that befalls us and demand that they "do something" without any regard for whether that something has any possibility of being effective?

Shikharshah’s Profile PhotoShikhar shah
I don't know, it doesn't make sense.
The same people say politicians are all careerists and all the same as each other, so they want a principled person who believes in something. But when they get soneone like that they're called extreme and dangerous, so we'd best stick with people like Killary instead.
It's a puzzlement.

What is anything that causes reproach to you, in which bring exclusion from your favor or belief? Why?

Welcome back, I hadn't seen you for a few weeks :)
I am always ashamed of not doing more of the voluntary work I do. I'm going on a trip with http://treesforlife.org.uk/ but I feel as though it's never enough. It is what I'd like to spend my life doing and I'm doing some work tomorrow but I am so ashamed to see people achieving great things like rewilding sites, doing the canals, planting forests and I don't do enough of that.

Many people struggle to find what they like to do in life and what their passion is. Where does the problem lie? Is this a sign that our educational system has failed?

Shikharshah’s Profile PhotoShikhar shah
It means that people aren't allowed to be who they are, and find some useful way of deploying their talents and instead being made to work in areas where they are weak, to the detriment of themselves and others.
Doyou like Aldous Huxley? My favourite of his is Island, I like it more than Brave New World, but I Recommend them all. :)

Very simple, so far as the Peter Pans are concerned. They're never given a chance to work up an appetite for power. We cure them of their delinquency before it's had time to develop. But the Muscle Men are different. They're just as muscular here, just as tramplingly extraverted, as they are with you. So why don't they turn into Stalins or Dipas, or at the least into domestic tyrants? First of all, our social arrangements offer them very few opportunities for bullying their families, and our political arrangements make it practically impossible for them to domineer on any larger scale. Second, we train the Muscle Men to be aware and sensitive, we teach them to enjoy the commonplaces of everyday existence. This means that they always have an alternative-innumerable alternatives-to the pleasure of being the boss. And finally we work directly on the love of power and domination that goes with this kind of physique in almost all its variations. We canalize this love of power and we deflect it-turn it away from people and on to things. We give them all kinds of difficult tasks to perform-strenuous and violent tasks that exercise their muscles and satisfy their craving for domination-but satisfy it at nobody's expense and in ways that are either harmless or positively useful."
"So these splendid creatures fell trees instead of felling people-is that it?"
"Precisely"

Does crime almost always come from a psychological disorder due to upbringing or bad genetics? Shouldn't we be treating our criminals for the benefit of society and humanity in general instead of locking them up?

Shikharshah’s Profile PhotoShikhar shah
I don't know, I am torn over the "rehabilitation revolution", while it would be a good idea, the talk of it doesn't mean it's going to happen that way, "reform" possibly being a cover for cuts and privitisation.

Will it work? It would if they did it, but maybe they won't?

What is the difference between love and a crush? Is it true that only a mentally mature person can experience love whereas others (like kids and teenagers) cannot experience love?

Shikharshah’s Profile PhotoShikhar shah
I don't know, perhaps it could be the other way round, like someone who has had several relationships that have ended badly, or has gone years without having a lover, is less likely to feel deeply than a young prrson who hasn't.
I see this girl on and off, I think I love her but it's never quite sure where we are, we are always friends, sometimes more, sometimes not, but I'm not really interested in anyone else. So I don't know whether she is my girlfriend or not, she was and hopefully will be again but maybe not now. And since a song is generally a better answer thah anything I write, I've listened to this one often enough.

Which quality in a man do you dislike the most?

I'm not attracted to men if you mean it like that, but the thing I most dislike is the "alpha-male issue", I think a real leader takes people along with him/her because s/he has the best ideas and is inspiring, and someone that kisses up and kicks down is not someone I want anything to do with.
Be it someone who physically threatens us or someone like Gordon Gekko or Donald Trump, they won't be receiving my support.

What's something everyone else loves that you secretly find overrated? How come?

I don't actually know what everyone likes, I don't follow trends. But really, golf, what's that all about?
Apart from its pointlessness as an activity, in areas that are plagued with drought like California, THIS is their priority? The land could be reforested or used for agriculture, not wasted on something only bellends enjoy.

What do fireworks make you think of?

Gandalf's fireworks of course! And do you know they are believed to be based on Vicky's jubilee celebrations in 1897 that the infant Tolkien attended, and I went to the very place!

The fireworks were by Gandalf: they were not only brought by him, but designed and made by him; and the special effects, set pieces, and flights of rockets were let off by him. But there was also a generous distribution of squibs, crackers, backarappers, sparklers, torches, dwarf-candles, elf-fountains, goblin-barkers and thunder-claps. They were all superb. The art of Gandalf improved with age.
There were rockets like a flight of scintillating birds singing with sweet voices. There were green trees with trunks of dark smoke: their leaves opened like a whole spring unfolding in a moment, and their shining branches dropped glowing flowers down upon the astonished hobbits, disappearing with a sweet scent just before they touched their upturned faces. There were fountains of butterflies that flew glittering into the trees; there were pillars of coloured fires that rose and turned into eagles, or sailing ships, or a phalanx of flying swans; there was a red thunderstorm and a shower of yellow rain; there was a forest of silver spears that sprang suddenly into the air with a yell like an embattled army, and came down again into the Water with a hiss like a hundred hot snakes. And there was also one last surprise, in honour of Bilbo, and it startled the hobbits exceedingly, as Gandalf intended. The lights went out. A great smoke went up. It shaped itself like a mountain seen in the distance, and began to glow at the summit. It spouted green and scarlet flames. Out flew a red-golden dragon — not life-size, but terribly life-like: fire came from his jaws, his eyes glared down; there was a roar, and he whizzed three times over the heads of the crowd. They all ducked, and many fell flat on their faces. The dragon passed like an express train, turned a somersault, and burst over Bywater with a deafening explosion.

If you were shopping for a new home, what features would be most important to you?

shehitsback’s Profile PhotoAllison
I've always lived in the same house, since I was born, apart from when I was at university. So I don't know anything :)
I've got my room painted blue, blue bed covers, a striped carpet and maps on the walls. I think if I lived anywhere I'd live on a canal boat, I'd spend most of my time at a wharf in the city and that would be my base but I'd journey to places along the canal in my holiday, I've got friends who do just that and I've been to their boat and once went on a trip with them.

What artist would you call a "sellout"?

Michael Gove & Boris Johnson, after their lying claims during the referendum campaign have been busted. In a couple of years they'll be lynched by the people who voted for them & have less than nothing to show for it. :)

Do you have a lucky talisman you keep with you? PAP!

My wallet I bought in Cambodia in December 2013!
I went to this cocktail bar, http://www.misswong.net/ it was really decadent, it had an air of Saint Petersburg in 1913 or the Wei ar Republic and it was really strange but SO good, and I was on my way to this amazing pizza place, randomly in Cambodia.

Feeling buzzed, pre-dinner, having lived my luxorious and decadent cocktail life, I bought my wallet and it reminds me of that time and I still cherish my legendary wallet.
