Hi Danny! So I have the worst of all worlds- acne, weight problems, and severe lack of confidence (it's easy to see why). I really want to cosplay but I don't even know where to start to get rid of all my disgusting problems. Do you have any advice? :(
HELLO! Your drive to cosplay is a great start :) It means that you still have confidence shining through. It's just a matter of how much of that confidence you'd like to channel. I say don't push yourself so much, find a cosplay that you can wear without being super conscious, something comfortable that you can wear.
Remember - cosplay is a fun hobby for you to enjoy. It's a dog-eat-dog society out there so everyone judges each other. It's just a matter of how you'd like to deal with them. I say have fun and let them talk what they want and dnt let it bother you.
Acne is a thing that comes and go and I think most of us deal with it all the time >_<)/ treatment is key! Don't stress your skin by layering things that will make it worst. Your skin needs to breathe. Drink plenty of water and just remember to wash ur skin regularly. Also if it really bothersome type, maybe ask the doctor for creams to treat it :)
Now if you're planning to wear makeup for cosplay to cover up the acne - just make sure that your base/foundation(actually your makeup products) is one that your skin can handle and doesnt make your skin problems worst :O Sometimes we try our hardest to pile to cover it but it ends up standing out more. Keep it nice and simple with the skin since it's at a critical stage where it needs to breathe. Test some makeup products and make sure its hypoallergic. Bring a friend/friends with you and ask the makeup counter/assistant to help you. They should recommend you some products that is suitable for your skin.
If you're not planning to wear a base because you prefer to keep it natural - then just the eyeliner and contouring is fine :)
For the weight problem, i'm assuming size? As i said earlier, find a cosplay that you feel confident wearing, such that it won't emphasize on the problem more. However if you really wanna cosplay that certain character and worried abt looking "strange", YOLO it cos you're there to have fun. It's those events you don't have everyday.

i think price wise- spending a large amount on cosplay is mainly due to the level of detail and the texture of the costume because high quality fabric and probably swarovski crystals and gold detailing. hahaha! imagine like a wedding cosplay.
