I've met a narcissist in my life already. Memories are enough already for my lifetime, so I don't wish to spend my time on another one. I'd like to say nothing and keep my distance. :)

I think this is a whole different question. In my answer I tried to explain it with personal feelings on it.
While I believe that both can make an impact. As long as you exist you are able to act. As long as you are able to act/response/communicate with your environment you are able to take influence on it.

Mhm, but do you know why someone build defenses in the first place? Because they got attacked. Mentally or physically. No one builds defenses without getting attacked. You need to get hurt badly before you decide for yourself never again.
Don't forget that defenses aren't completely bad. Because yeah it builds distrust but yes...it also protects you from getting hurt even more. Furthermore people usually don't react like Jesus did. They aren't happy about getting hurt and then smiling from cheek to cheek if someone hits them..."Here take my other cheek as well! I'd love that!"

I think I'm hungry so I'm going to the refrigerator and eat something.
So yes, a thought can lead to action. And an action can also lead to a response or another action. Therefore it can change the world.

Certain people, my mom's (because the mom of my partner is also a mom to me), my brother, my partner, my best friend. They matter all a lot to me. Certain people, I met online. Some gave me life lessons in trust. Others have lightened up my darkest hours.
Food. I appreciate to always have something to eat.
Clothes. And being able to buy something that says something about my style.
Books. Because my mind needs food as my body needs. Art. Because it saved me so many times when people let me down.
Games, because some really managed to distract me so much that I don't have to think about what's going on in my head.
Nature. Because unlike humans it's always healthy to my soul. The ocean is calming. Woods are our green lungs and are adventurous. Mountains are a stunning view. I love it all. I wish that we would protect it better.

In a way...yes. I did this for someone. I let her be because leaving her at peace brought her more happiness than being by my side. She changed a lot when I reached out to her again but probably that was her walls she didn't want to take down. I still love us the way we were but I respect her decision of moving forward because everyone deserves to be loved, and she believed I couldn't give her that. So she left. But that's okay. I will always keep us in my heart and mind. I hope she keeps me too.

Watch how they talk about their past friendships.
If they play the victim role and tell you - everyone but them was at fault and left them you are probably in the same position as their miserable friends, they deal with in the past. Some day you will be the one at fault. The one who did everything wrong. The one they can hurt as much as they like to because it's still your fault for starting the argument. If that's the case you're dealing with a defensive type of narcissist.

I had a series of really bad birthdays since I was young, so birthdays aren't that great for me. So I am kinda happy even when it's forgotten. But of course I had some really good birthdays especially my last one, where I broke with a toxic friendship and my partner organized everything for me and some other friends showed up and appreciated me, talked a lot with me, laughed with me. It was great. But still I am not a great birthday celebrater.

A Person can be born with a damaged empathy system during birth. This person grows up learning how to fake their emotions by observing how other people react to certain things. For them, it's not possible to listen to their heart. There is only their mind that leads to their actions. I don't believe they are evil. But they also don't have big problems to do so, because their moral compass don't hold 'em back.
But I also believe that every human being contains certain evilness. There is this old Indian story that each human has two wolfs inside. Feed the right one.

I'd like to think that we are moulded by experiences. We have this core of our own soul in us. But we only get to know this core by communicating with others. Others set examples for us. How we want to be. How we don't want to be. That's the core of our soul that sleeps inside of us. We know nothing about it until we get to know ourselves by experiencing life.
