Mohsin Abbas Haider’s case is of domestic violence. Not #MeToo. As soon as he was blamed by his wife, first-hand witnesses came forward. This case is open and shut. Crystal clear with so many witnesses. He should be made an example, by law, so no one dares to raise his hand again, no matter what.

Ali Zafar’s case was of sexual harassment. The #MeToo kind. With over 2 decades in showbiz industry, not a single celebrity accused him of what Meesha Shafi did. No one came forward. Those who were present during the jamming session went against Meesha Shafi. Only a couple of unknown Twitter accounts (allegedly backed by Nighat Dad) accused Ali Zafar. This all looks like a hoax or whatever… but not true. Let the court decide.

Ukhano’s case is also of sexual harassment. As alleged, a girl came to meet him in his hotel room for a photo shoot. It was going fine with mutual consent until he forced himself over her. Things went wrong. The girl fought for herself (must be bruises or wounds or something). The case should be referred to court with Medico Legal report. All other screenshots of Ukhano’s chats with different girls are nothing as girls were playing the same game as he did.

Imam ul Haq’s case is… well nothing. Nothing at all. All happened with mutual consent until Imam apologized to marry a girl. This made her angry. She posted chats on social media. This is not #MeToo. Or harassment. Or violence.

Seemingly, none of the above mentioned incidents matters to us personally. But its implications can be haunting. Anyone can be a victim anytime. As it seems, men will suffer.
The world, particularly the desi side of the world, is taking a turn. One single tweet, claim, or post can defame a guy. A whole brigade will start attacking. Loudmouths, like Nighat Dad, will come forward in an instant-tweet. You don’t need proofs. You don’t need anything. All you need is a story. That’s it. The guy’s reputation is gone.

Fake WhatsApp videos are taking lives of Dalits and Muslims in India. Fake pictures are leading to suicides. Before forwarding or becoming a supporter of anything, dig deep.
We need to be careful. For the sake of us. For the sake of our families. And for the sake of our kids.
By the way, ‘things’ don’t become ‘Halal” with ‘consent’. But thank goodness! People have left that part for the Judgement Day.
Allah says in Quran:
“O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful.”

There is only one incident of sexual harassment mentioned in the Quran, when Zulaikha blamed Hazrat Yusuf AS, who was innocent. But He suffered.
P.S. There is no denying the fact that women have suffered so much. Domestic violence behind curtains of marriage is so common. Honor killing goes unnoticed. In the name of patriarchy, misogyny, honor and shame, everything against women is accepted here.
