In your personal life, people tend to become difficult and weird when not sure or secure about their place in your life-especially when they value you. Opposite that, they become difficult when they don't value you.
In general, it can run a gamut of reasons depending on your relationship/connection/business is with them.

If I encountered opposition from someone, I was always able to do my own thing and get around it.
I just pray there will never be a day when I am unable to freely exercise my will because of extreme unreasonableness.

It's mainly people who WANT to be difficult to deal with who are difficult to deal with. I always try to discourage that behavior by being stubborn with them, which often for me in trouble at work, but the only times I regretted my behavior was when I gave in.
