I've dated more than my fair share of Cancer men (I'm an Aquarius female but with a lot of water in my chart so I get that water signs are emotional af) but like every Cancer I've been with has been like impossible to deal with bc of the mood swings and emotional intensity. Like they've all just been totally unreasonable at times. One of the great loves of my life was a Cancer male with a stellium in Gemini throughout the rest of his chart (so that made him weird because he tried to be all air signy and distant but he had this emotional tsunami going on inside) and like I love that boy but he was super emotional but always bottling it up and then exploding, or reacting insanely to situations when he was stressed. He could be really hurtful without realizing but was super hyper sensitive to how I was feeling (though being Aqua sometimes I was like I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW I'M FEELING LEAVE ME ALONE) and I think that contributed to the bottling because he refused to express his feelings if he thought I was upset. All around just a difficult person to be in a relationship with. But also very caring, thoughtful, loyal and sensitive. Treated me like a princess.
Personal opinion of Cancer male is mixed. Never knew any until recently (the last few years). One, I hold in high regard. He and his wife are wonderful people and great friends - together and separately. A few other Cancer men I know of are pretty dreadful: conceited, manipulative, unfaithful, etc. (btw - I am a fire sign and don't care for people who jerk others around; One of my parents is a Cancer which may automatically sour my view sometimes). As a Sagittarian woman, I would not normally be attracted to one. They are of the water element and therefore very sentimental, domestic, hypersensitive, changeable, moody, and nostalgic. Being feminine signs, the men tend to be macho. Sylvester Stallone is a Cancer male. Even if they are not football players or stereotypical in playing out that male role, I find that they do not relate to women the same as they do towards men. I prefer men who treat me like they would treat a man.
I've actually been on the receiving end of this from cancer females, both the indifferent kind of love, and the obsessive kind. The obsessive kind of love can be way too much and if it's not reciprocated, their partner eventually retreats. Then after the obsessive love comes to a swift and brutal hault, the cancer is left broken, sick, and depressed for a long time, maybe years. They always think there's still a chance and it's just that attitude that drove their partner away to begin with. Break ups can haunt them for a while, maybe 5 or 10 years.
