a trail ride (was a little excited but not panicked at all when my friend raced ahead of us!! yeek!! He was calm, just head bobbing..) and worked in the arena (pleasure pony tonight...lol...he was un-normal super slow, it was really good though!!)

Is there a speed difference between loping and cantering ?
yep. loping is for western pleasure and i guess it could be for western in general and canter is an english style term, but i say both lope & canter. Canter is a little faster though.
Do you rock your hips and legs when you canter or just your hips ?
you move with the horses rhythm! :) More of a hip thing, your legs should be still ;)
