No, it’s bs at best and harmful at worst.Inequality isn’t going to go away because the poor imagine themselves being rich, and not being ‘positive’ isn’t the reason a child born into poverty has less than one who inherits wealth. As Barbara Ehrenreich explains on her book ‘Smile or Doe’, when it comes to blaming the victims of illness for not being ‘positive’ enough, it’s downright obscene.
Wow! So great to see that "The Heart of the Matter" by Graham Greene is your favourite book! Could I ask what are some of the themes in the book that you like?
The interest is that Scobie is not a bad person and certainly not a villain, but is still doomed by his own self, and by the pity he shows towards the Portuguese captain and towards Louise.Yet it is shown that he had no other way out, and implied that he had to do what he did in the end, though of course someone else would dispute this.Being the first of Greene’s books that I read, it started a life of fandom and I’ve now read them all.
My friend who was at the same football game as me. We were actually on different sides, but I work in the town that the other club are from, so that’s normal to me.And it was better for me since the lads won, though it was a fair game that they could have edged.https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66577628
Yes, I love Radio 3 and Radio 4.It is underrated how much excellent broadcasting we have, without being bombarded by adverts, for a cost which is much less than almost any subscription.
I have loved cycling since I can remember, so don’t actually know when it started. But the string of British victories in the Tour de France in the 2010s is why I kept that interest, watching as well as doing such cycling as I do.Now I hope that someone like Tom Pidcock or one of the Yates brothers can give young people today another to look forward to!
