What's your plans for today? 😊

Evening grant,
I don’t think I’ve spoken to you before, so welcome to my zone.
Today, I was on a long distance walk http://leadenboot.org.uk/ and I’ve done ten of them but this was one of the toughest as it was so hot, which led to me having a worse than average time.
Despite this, I’m proud of having done it so am now eating peanuts & dranking beer. ;)

Do you think toxic positivity is damaging? Probably hence the word toxic

b4p7kzvgkt’s Profile PhotoLoose_change
Yes, I certainly do.
As Barbara Ehrenreich wrote in her book ‘Smile or Die’, at its worst this cult blames the poor and sick for being poor and sick, and tells everyone that we need to just think differently, not change society.
I take this personally because not only have I been poor (thankfully no longer, but others still suffer as I used to), i also have an illness (under active thyroid) that affected me for years, was misdiagnosed at first, and is now being sorted by the medicines that the ‘positive’, anti-vaxxers, and the likes, don’t want me to have.
Because I was misdiagnosed at first, I know western medicine needs to be made better. But it CAN be made better, whereas woo and bullshit will always be dead ends at best and toxic at worst.

What is your opinion on the shoutouts that you get?

DrAnonStar12376148’s Profile Photo♚ ♔ ӨMZ ♔ ♚
Few of them are of any worth and the askers seem to agree, as almost none of them interact with what I say and most of my answers probs don’t get read.
Which makes me wonder why they’re taking to me in the first place!?

Are you taking part in no mow may? 💞

Shannon678900’s Profile PhotoShannon
I never mow! Admittedly I live in a small terraced house with a very small garden, but I’m secateurs only.
The garden used to be all slate. Then some people who lived here before me took out most of the slate (I dread to imagine how hard they had to work on that and wonder why they bothered!) and put grass in. I don’t want to mow it as it’s fairly bad grass to begin with and needs more encouragement; the roots aren’t strong enough to withstand repeated mows.
When I bought the house, around a fifth of the garden was still slate, but weeds were growing and I didn’t think this small area of slate was doing much, so pulled it out and put flowers, herbs, and butternut squash in.
I do wonder what the all-slate garden would have looked like but the people who used to live here (who didn’t take proper care of the place; I keep finding things they and the halfwit who came after them did wrong) made sure I’ll never know.

Do you work weekends?

Not generally; I worked yesterday, though, and thereby earned a day off in June without taking a holiday.
This suits me, as I have things to do on that day, whereas I wasn’t especially planning to do anything else yesterday.

Have you ever give up alcohol?

Shannon678900’s Profile PhotoShannon
No, I don’t drink too much so I don’t need to be teetotal.
Likewise, I don’t diet because I don’t eat too much, so I don’t need to start eating too little.
Numquam reformata quia numquam deformata.

Is there any certain drink that is a red flag about someone if they like it?

gggssaq’s Profile Photouɐʇs ɥʇᴉʍ sǝɯʎɥɹ
I don’t judge people by their drinks if, for instance, they drink soya (maybe vegan or allergic; fine by me) or if they like elaborate cocktails (that’s their thing, which is fair enough). I know others are judgmental about this but I hope never to be.
I do, however, judge people who guzzle ‘energy’ drinks even though they do little or no exercise, as they’re not only wasting their time & money, but if I see them on the street or on the train I do assume they’re going to bellends, tbqh.

Have you ever taken the MBTI personality test? If so, what is your "personality type"?

INTJ (near the border with INFJ).
Although I’m not actually a scientist, I do think ‘the scientist’ type of thinking is me and introverted intuition is me so I agree with it.

if you are from the UK will you be watching or avoiding the coronation

brookerobertson772’s Profile Photobrooke robertson
I’ll be watching it as I admire Charles a great deal.
He has done a great deal of work through the Princes Trust, pioneering work on climate change, and things most people have never heard of, like at Middleport Pottery.
It’s facile to say a republic would be more equal when monarchies are some of the best societies on earth (Sweden, the Netherlands, and so on) whereas a republic would look more like America where (without a formal class system) the rich are in fact richer, and the poor poorer, while being blamed for their lot in life.
Given the upheavals we have seen in our time (most of which I was against; Brexit, for instance, which I was against) we need a unifier rather than an elected politician or failed political place an.

how old are you?

Madilyn Taylor
I’m 38, which I used to think wasn’t old until I was swimming in the stream in Glen Affric with the group I was with.
A lady wouldn’t put her head in the water and I challenged her by asking how old she was (35; I hadn’t known that and had thought she was younger). Pointed out that I’m older than her and had put my head in the water three times.
Another member of the group (who is 23) said that this is something an old person would say. And really, it is. So I have, despite being fit & healthy, crossed the threshold of age.
