27. I was happily married, had a newborn son, my dog Kale was still alive and full of energy, I had a great job, a nice house, a nice car, and I was able to help others without hurting my wife or son or myself. I had a good life. We had a good life.

Not at all. If I were capable of believing in the fantastical, I’d believe someone placed a curse on me.

The guys at work made a concerned joke about it my first day back after the accident. They asked if I knew any witches and if I may have pissed them off.

Our consensus is that I made at least one happy and they’re blessing is helping stop the curses from the others from killing me. Which explains why so many bad things that are beyond anyone’s control keep happening to me, but also how I am somehow walking away from deadly situations unharmed.

The recent accident isn’t the only deadly event I’ve walked away from unscathed in the last two years.

Saturdays. Sundays are the only day we are closed. I have the option of taking off one other day of my choice, but we all come in anyway. And now there is a schedule that allows the person responsible for cleanup and humidifiers for the week to have off that Saturday, which I would not take so I’ve volunteered for the weeks in which we are closed that Saturday due to holidays.

City. I find country life relaxing and great for quick breaks from everyday life, but it took me years to feel this way. I grew up in the country, so I had no relaxing place to go to when I needed a break. City life is a faster pace, and more culturally fulfilling. I learned more in my first year of city life than in any of the years that preceded it.

Entered into a toxic relationship, moved out of state, got my son a dog, escaped the relationship, started a dream job, totaled my car, and somehow managed to read 80 books. Trying to knock out a few more before the year ends.
