Koi story sunao bore ho rahi😒

Once upon a time, I saw a dream. An unhappy man standing in front of his happy portrait, brushstrokes of watercolors splashing together in golden and blue hues on the canvas to bring out the vibrancy of his features. I saw somebody lightly tap on his shoulder and gesticulating towards me, the man said "she is diseased, don't."
Now I don't remember the second half.

Should I buy acrylic paint 🎨 or water colours ???

It depends on what kind of style you like. If you want to work with thick paint and have vibrant colors then acrylic, but if you like the soft look of watercolors then you should go for watercolor. The thing is watercolor is hard to work with at first because you can't control water and how it moves, you have to be pretty careful with it. But it's fun and relaxing so I'd say go for it.
Acrylic paints are good when you want to create a painting with texture and thicker strokes.

Are you an artistic person? If yes, in which arts?

I enjoy the arts in general but am not particularly gifted in any of them. I’d like to believe I am. I majored in illustration in school and am a graphic designer by trade. It’s hard to explain my style but I usually do digital portraits. I’ve also always really been into cartooning, working with inks, watercolors, and collage. I’m hoping to try some acrylic pour painting soon as well. I've just gotten into piano improvisation, but I've already played classically for 11-12 years, so patterns are nothing new for me. I just think of a time period I want to emulate, think of generally how I could do that (chord structure, rhythm, general style, etc.), and then I just start improvising. So far, I can emulate the Romantic period pretty well, and I can improv ragtime some.
I play instruments and produce. When I have inspiration I start generally by writing a song, all in one go, then tweaking parts of it to fit. Then I'll improvise the guitar while singing to find the right notes, and go from there after recording the base to add drums, bass, and so on. Save it and I've got a song.
For me, I like outdoor and portrait photography. A lot of it is just running "live". Something catches my attention and I go after it to take a picture and try to get cool unfamiliar angles. For portraits, I have a few poses in mind, but a lot of the pictures are like, "Oh oh oh! You know what we should have you pose like?! Do this!! YES!" and I take the picture. For graphic design, I try to go after a theme (like "friendly", "dark", "modern", "simplicity", "loud", etc.) and do what I can to make the project come out so.
I write and perform rap music, and my creative process is pretty sporadic. When I find a beat that I like, I'll put it on loop until something strikes me, whether it be a mood or a specific set of lines. This drives the rest of song, and honestly I just let the song go wherever it wants to. A lot of it is pretty stream of consciousness, I just write what I'm feeling at that point based off of what I said previously.
For me photography is very much a reaction to something that I like the look of, but my composing is much more meditative. I prefer to allocate time to developing a new idea, a time when I can sit down at my computer and focus onto creating something. Sometimes I get lucky and I get into a flow really easily, and once this happens hours can pass without even a second though for the time. My record is 8 hours straight without a break, every second of which was spent either adding to or reviewing different sections of a waltz I was working on. I think some of this will come down to ADD (which I believe I may have), particularly something known as hyperfocusing. The arts part I do in my academic setting is much harder, I have to go through tons of research for inspiration to strike me. Usually I set a topic to research based and then read large amounts of science studies and articles.

Do you always finish pieces of art in a relatively timely manner or do you ever start something and not get back to it for weeks or months?

That happens very rarely. I currently have 3 pieces of art that I lost interest in and haven't finished. But I'll probably get back to them some time soon. These days I'm into watercolors and acrylics, I'm doing smaller, quicker paintings in my sketchbook, just to pass some time since I'm free these days. These took me about 15 min each.
Do you always finish pieces of art in a relatively timely manner or do you ever

Do you think the artist ever has to go out into the world and see/experience things that inspire/enhance their craft?

Ofcourse. Painting/drawing from life is really important for an artist, especially someone who is into realism. I used to take my watercolors with me when going to the local park and it was very relaxing. Nature on its own is very calming and combined with art it's even better. I find that creating art outdoors closer to nature feels so much better than indoors. Having said that, most artists that I know are introverts. For us introverts who do not talk or socialize a lot, art is a great way to express ourselves. It also works amazing as therapy. Like for example, you can use art as a therapy by drawing or painting what you're feeling at the moment. So let's say you're feeling angry, you can create something that expresses that emotion, that will enable you to get that anger out of your system onto the canvas/paper.

Hi Manu, first up I am not a real big fan of abstract art but I do like your works here. My fav is watercolor and permanent marker, maybe just because of the boundaries the marker gives kinda clicks with my engineering brain waves. Next up I like your pet dragon kinda for the same reason. The iPad work, while it’s ok just isn’t as good as the watercolors for me. 🤗

Wow that long?! I have a problem blending watercolors nicely together sometimes any tips for watercolors?

personally for me i do the wet on wet technique which is basically just wetting the paper first and then painting w a wet brush. start w a light wash of color and then slowly layer darker colors and before they dry make sure you blend them together nicely to prevent it from looking unblended. my paintings are usually not blended too much cause i like how it looks you just have to keep painting till you find your own technique and whichever way your comfortable w

Hai, selamat pagi. Bagaimana cara kalian menggambar ? dan peralatan (pensil, kertas) jenis apa saja yang kalian pakai ? Jika berkenan sekalian pap karya kalian. Terima Kasih.

Ig : @upsmuhamar
Lulus kelas drawing I & II aja udah alhamdulilah :')
Hmm apa lagi ya, rasanya pernah mencoba beberapa peralatan gambar merk lain tapi lupa huhu. Bonus pap ya jadi ingat dulu banget pernah bikin t-shirt pakai hasil gambar. Masih ngasal banget :')

hello dinda, im in love with your paintings, your skill are like a pro 😂, i adore u. and i want to ask you, what product do you recommend for water colouring? bcz all your painting areeee amazinggg 😍😍😍 btw, i would be very happy if you reply this questions, thankss💕

Thanks for those compliments!haha I use Koi watercolors (this one is my favorite but it cant be found in Lampung). I recommend Giotto & Pentel, its pretty cool i also use them x

what is your opinion of getting a constellation tattoo? My plan is once I graduate high school to get the Orion Constellation because it's really bright on my birthday at night. I would get the stars done as white tattoo ink and have watercolors around it, and a line leading to each star. Opinion?

Basically they’re cliche as hell.
But in short, your idea sounds doomed to fail. You cannot have watercolour with white ink. It will age terribly and you’d be left with a mess.

Hi Liv, I´m a big fan of not only your videos but also paintings you share, they´re incredible!!. I want to start painting with watercolors so I was wondering if you knew any good brands that you could recommend? Thank you so much in advance for any tips! :)

oh my,
thank you so much, i'm so so happy for you ♥
let me see, if you want to start now, i would not say to use the MOST EXPENSIVE AND GREATEST BRANDS (like Van Gogh), but i would say the quality is equally important as the price.
so i can recommend Giotto, it's pretty cool and it has great colors, good quality, and also Faber-Castell.
what i highly recommend, - and i think it depends on countries - is...well i don't know if you know the supermarket, called 'Lidl'.
if you know it then i highly recommend their watercolors.
i bought the one comes in tubes, and it has 42 colors...and it's fantastic, they have rich colors, and it stays that way - i have constantly a problem, that the colors become less rich after they dry, i'm allergic to that.
a bit more expensive, but not as much as Van Gogh, so it's a middle expensive quality, is the brand called 'nevskaya palitra'.
i wanted Van Gogh watercolors, but i got this one in the end, and i'm totally, 1000% satisfied with it.
great, rich colors, very thick material.
maybe that's good if you feel you are moving forward in painting, later maybe, not for the first time, but of course you decide what you need for. :-)
hope i could help, and i appreciate you asked me ♥ it's an honour.
i would be happy if you would show me later what you made, paint. :-)

hey Shirley, could u please take a picture of ur art supplies and workspace? I'd love to see where u work and all of the materials u use! many thanks :)

sure thing!! i answered a question a few weeks back about my supplies so i copied and pasted it here:
• • •
for traditional drawings i use:
- mechanical pencil
- graphite pencils (4 shading and values if i want to be fancy)
- hi-polymer pentel eraser
- prismacolor colored pencils (if i'm feeling risky and want to fuck shit up.....literally)
- copics (expensive as hell. but v nice v pretty. used sparingly)
- sakura micron pens (to ink)
- white gel pen (4 highlights. gotta love those)
- sketchbook (i like thick paper but right now i'm using a moleskine cahier. very thin pages :()
- watercolors (reeves)
• • •
for digital drawings i use:
- wacom tablet (pen and touch small)
- paint tool sai (the program i use to draw)
- computer
• • •
as for my workspace, i just work at my desk! it's not very organized and because i moved a few months ago, i haven't had the chance to decorate it yet. i'll probably upload a pic when it looks better haha but i hope this helped some :---)

Hello!! If it isn't too much to ask, can you share how you started out using photoshop, like where did you learn how to make really nice edits, posters, flyers and all those other good stuff? And maybe some advice to people who are just starting out. Hehe thanks! :D

Hi anon! Just a disclaimer: I'm really not an expert or anything HAHA I still have a lot to learn when it comes to Photoshop and I may not be the most experienced person to ask. This is just based from my own opinions so please dont take my word for anything! Anyway, I started using Photoshop during freshman year 'cause I figured it'd be really useful for school ((which is very, very true)). I'm assuming u have the app already but if not, there are lots of ways you can get a pirated version that's just as good! I used to work off of a pirated Photoshop CC. It just took some time to find the torrent for it but it's definitely better than blowing off thousands for an original one. I think version CS5 and above should be good for most things! When I started using it I didn't watch/read any tutorials or anything 'cause I honestly don't have the patience for those haha. I had my friends (Crizza + Marie, they're Photoshop gods) to teach me basic commands and stuff but for the most part I just figured things out on my own. I only really use tutorials to get a certain effect or for troubleshooting. I mean it works for me, but if you want to have a REALLY in-depth knowledge on all the functions then I suggest you brush up on the basics w tutorials! It'd definitely speed up the learning process more 'cause with the way I do things, I've been using PS for three years and I'm still discovering really basic techniques till now haha. Youtube is the obvious place to start but Tumblr is also an incredible resource. I seriously recommend checking out yeahps, itsphotoshop, and chaoticresources. They have in-depth tutorials for beginners that are easy to understand and if u wanna branch out from the basics, they teach u how to re-create specific effects too (it's from these blogs that I learned how to play around w watercolors and add certain textures hehe). Tbh tho when it comes to stuff like this sometimes u can put in little effort into the editing and still come up with something that looks reaally nice. TWO V IMPORTANT THINGS (imo) are FONTS and COLOR SCHEMES. Can't stress that enough!!! Sometimes for posters I just use a really nice font and it brings the whole thing together already. Dafont is a good resource but check out Tumblr or other font sources (you'd be surprised!) + try going to colourlovers.com/palettes for nice color schemes! Really, the technical aspect of editing would be useless if u dont develop a sense of what looks nice and what doesnt (!!!). I think it's important too that u expose yourself to different styles of editing and get inspiration from work that u like. I'm really into minimalism, vectors, and typography so my work tends to incorporate those things. Exposure is rly important and you'll learn to develop your own style and create things from scratch (as in not based off of someone else's work). // I hope that sorta helped (sorry if it didnt!) and just ask away if u have more questions, I'd be happy to help however I can. Good luck!!

invest on good materials. they din't come cheap but they're worth it. example, instead of using just the regular mongol or cheap pencils, use steadtler. for watercolors go for brands like, prang or sakura. basta u getting me ayun hehe and just practice and practice errday that helps like a lot. and just always have fun✌?️

I wanna buy tht koi watercolor lyk urs but i'm scared if i can't use it properly(takut ga kepakai). Watercolor buat pemula yang gak semahal koi apa ya kak? Pls answer kak. Sebelum kaka punya koi watercolor, kaka pakai watercolor apa?? Pls answer kak I'm so confused. Thank u kak u're so gorg?

Soal kepakai ga kepakai, tergantung kamunya aja yg emg pengen niat gambar apa ngga sebenernya :) Aku blm pernah coba pake watercolors merk lain but aku tau yg jauh lebih murah "giotto" merknya. Goodluckkkk

omfg did you make those??!!?!?!? they're super cool! how did you get the ombre and tie dye effects in the background, and do the stuff inside the compass and the shillouettes? ur a really talented artist.

First I just used watercolors to get the background they blend rlly well and to get the blank space I have a foam decal I put on and then the letters inside the compass are stamps and everything else I did either with sharpie or artists pens. They only take like 30 mins per drawing?

You've contradicted yourself Liam with regard to the bisexual question. Isn't taking the 3 different colours, 1) Lesbian, 2) Gay 3) Straight and mixing them into the 1 colour called "Bisexual" just like making the 1 poop colour that you described to that anon?

No, because "gay", "straight", and "lesbian" are their own separate labels with their own specific definitions. That's the whole issue here. Anon is cross-contaminating multiple labels, which redefines ALL of them. I'll try to explain this better. For the sake of the analogy:
Gay = a man who likes a man
Lesbian = a woman who likes a woman
Straight = a man/woman who likes a woman/man respectively
Bisexual = a man/woman who likes either a man or a woman
The kid opens the palette and sees the paints. They're unused and unmixed and perfectly pristine. He uses the bisexual paint first, but he doesn't like it. He thinks that some of the bisexual paint would look better in the gay paint. He mixes the colors. Then he does the same for the lesbian paint. And then the straight paint. Now he has a bit less bisexual paint, and his gay, lesbian, and straight watercolors are all mixed up. Well now some of the bisexual paint in the gay paint looks like it could belong in the straight paint instead. So he mixes the concoction with the straight paint. He does the same with the lesbian paint. Now the straight paint is a mess. But wait. Some of the straight paint now looks like it should be with the gay and lesbian paints. So he contaminates and mixes them up all over again. He does this over and over again until you can hardly tell which paint is which.
What I'm trying to say is that bisexuals aren't the only people who find comfort in a label with clearly defined boundaries. You're creating new definitions for the labels. So the definitions I used earlier undergo a shift:
Gay = gay men who like men + bisexual men who are only gay for as long as they are in a relationship with a man
Lesbian = lesbian women who like women + bisexual women who are only lesbian for as long as they are in a relationship with a woman
Straight = straight men/women who like women/men + bisexual women/men who are only straight for as long as they are in a relationship with a man/woman
Bisexual = people who are attracted to both sexes but are only really bisexual if they're with someone with both male and female parts because, with any other arrangement, they'd fall in an aforementioned category
You have now stripped everyone of their labels and redefined them and thrust people into places that they don't identify with. You cannot force your definitions onto a person who is repeatedly telling you that they don't define themselves in the way that you're defining them. Things like sexuality and gender can have dozens of different labels. Let people find shelter in the label that they're comfortable with. Don't try to change them to fit your beliefs. It's dehumanizing.
You should really talk to my girlfriend @emm_abear about this. She has the benefit of being 1) bi and 2) knowing what the fuck she's talking about. I'm having a hard time articulating myself, and I'm by no means an expert on bisexuality. This is just how I see the issue. She can explain this better.

Liam, I don't mean to be unfriendly or aggressive toward you in any way my friend but your explanation below really doesn't hold water and is illogical. I have not one iota of hate or dislike for bisexual or gay people and I will continue to see bisexual women as lesbian, gay and straight.

I never claimed that you hated bisexuals or gay people. I'm just confused about what it is that you believe in regard to them. You seem to recognize that bisexuals are attracted to both sexes, but you're claiming that if a bi girl is with a woman at the time, she's lesbian, and if she's with a man, she's straight. That says to me that you understand the premise of hetero- and homosexuality. So that's an illogical thought process in itself. If you recognize people can be gay, then you must be familiar with the label. If you're gay - just straight up gay - then you're ONLY attracted to people that are of the SAME sex as you. The same goes for straight people. If you're straight - 100% straight - then you're ONLY attracted to people of the OPPOSITE sex. Bisexuals have attraction for BOTH sexes. So claiming that they're either straight or gay is also fucking up the straight/gay labels as well. They aren't attracted to any other sex but the one they're interested in, yet you're going to lump in an entire group of people into their respective labels that are attracted to both sexes. You are essentially being that kid in primary school who mixes up all the bloody watercolor paints and makes each color an awful poop brown so that nobody can use it unless they want to paint a picture of poop in a poop lake. Like why even have different colored watercolors in the first place if they're all going to mix and match and end up poop brown? Why not just sell entire palettes of poop brown watercolor paint?
I don't think you quite understand the harm that you're doing to every single sexuality when you strip bisexuals of their identity and toss them into someone else's label. Don't be the poopy watercolor kid. Be the kid that recognizes that different watercolors exist and that the watercolors don't want to be poop.

World of Goo, Diamond Dash Plague Inc.

Markers? Do you have anything done in that up? I don't think I've seen anyone use that before... Do you do watercolours to? And oils and the 'fancy' stuff?

Like I said I own nothing of the "fancy" stuff, more than a few markers - somewhere..?
I enjoy all of it tho ~ watercolors are way fun!

Then I might buy the version I. Just wondering how do you do that make up even? Haha,it's really good btw.

Well... you need to seal first and then any other layer. Using Mr. Superclear (the best option). I am using watercolors and pastels. For lines acrylic paint. You need good quality brushes, gloves.. additional things as pvc glue and eyelashes. Don't use anything with oil! As color pencils - some of them contains oil. It is ddangerous for resin:
Thankies ^^

Oh, I'm not sure which one you're talking about, because I usually use a sketchbook for pencil/pen doodles but for watercolors a CANSON watercolor paper ^q^" The sketchbook is A5 (and it's probably from CANSON too? not sure :'3) while the watercolor paper is A4.
