Hey guys! :) Here your question: Is belief in religion intellectual s*icide? If you want go into details.

I wouldn't say that they're mutually exclusive of each other. While I personally don't believe in a god/religion and I think it's hard to be scientifically accurate when you believe a manmade creation created everything, I'm sure there are plenty of individuals out there who are capable of separating their beliefs in their religion from the scientific world and the goings on of such studies.

If you disagree with someone's view point which they've posted publicly, do you argue against it and state your point or ignore it?

RARELY will I ever publicly disagree with someone because more often than not I don't know enough about said topic to have a full on debate and prove my point and the people I tend to disagree with most frequently are the type that will be like "well you don't know about it so obviously you don't know what you're talking about and clearly you can't be right haha" and it's just annoying. Plus I've long learned that most of the time it's just a hell of a lot easier to ignore it than to try and actually have a decent civilized discussion with someone having differing thoughts.

have you ever been in a car accident? what happened? were you injured? (ignore if too personal!)

I'm going to take a relatively loose approach to the definition of "car accident".
I was in my first car accident about 6 months ago when I was on my way to visit my cousin at her college and came around a curve to find traffic backed up to the wazoo, slammed on my brakes, and proceeded to get rear ended by a teenage boy going to the same place I was going to visit a friend of his. It was a minor accident, you can barely see the damage on my car (thank god), and his car took most of the visible damage. I wasn't injured and neither was my boyfriend, the other driver, or his passenger.
I was also in the car with my mom a few days ago when she took an incredibly TIGHT 90 degree turn and banged up the back passenger door (mine) on the wall she was trying to get around. That was fun and loud. Nobody was hurt except for the door lol.

What are some of the changes you'd make to our society?

I'd love to see more open mindedness in people. I'd love to see more interest in learning and education instead of so much focus on "just getting by". I'd love to see more of the "live and let live" mindset instead of seeing so much divisiveness over absolutely everything. I'd love to see more people actually interested in the truth instead of blindly sharing Facebook posts and "news" articles that make them feel like they're right. I'd love to see less coddling and and more encouragement to do better. I'd love to see fewer flaws in every system currently in place. I'd love to hear fewer excuses and less blaming for things that happened generations ago. I'd love to see old school romance practices come back. I'd love to hear of fewer cases of child and animal abuse of any kind. I'd love to see less dependence on technology, especially for things as simple as reading a map. I'd love to see a mass overhaul of a lot of popular style trends, especially things like booty shorts (that are starting to look more and more like thongs than shorts honestly). I'd like to see less materialism (and no I don't mean more minimalism).

Love is selfish or selfless? Elaborate, please?

Selfless. Love sometimes requires sacrifice and you can't provide that if love is selfish.

Do you find it cringe worthy to shake hands with someone? I can understand if it was in a professional setting.

lnr87’s Profile Photospuʎ˥
It's not the shaking hands that's cringeworthy for me. It's the way a lot (it seems) of people shake hands. There's nothing I hate more than people who give limp fish handshakes, or people who don't even grab your whole hand and just offer like their fingers. Wtf am I supposed to do with that? I always try to give a decent handshake, without gripping for dear life because a) I don't need to give that solid of a handshake and b) I'm weak lol, but at least I'm trying to provide something to give a handshake to.

Do mosquitoes like you? Do you really think that if they don't go after a person then it means they have bad blood? Myth, fact?

lnr87’s Profile Photospuʎ˥
They flippin' love me, girl. It is not a mutual feeling. I repeat, it is not a mutual feeling. I was mauled by mosquitoes this summer. I literally had 9 mosquito bites on one leg at one point. I don't even know what to believe about the blood thing. I've heard it and I've said it but usually just as a joke-- also pretty sure that one of the two times it's been used on me was an attempt to flirt so.

Would your parents ever let one of your Internet friends stay at your house?

lnr87’s Profile Photospuʎ˥
They let my boyfriend stay with us when we first met so I would presume it mightn't be too different with other internet friends.

Name a place where people are on their best behavior.

Never have I seen more cautious, rule following, proper driving than people who are either taking their (first) driving test or doing driving school. I'd say that's a pretty good example of people on their best behavior, haha.

I hope your trip is going well. :)

You know, for being as hot and as boring (overall) as it was, I actually didn't have a terrible time. I read a LOT and didn't gain as much weight as I always do there so overall I'd say it was pretty successful. I even started writing again AND completely revamped my original novel idea which is incredibly exciting because I actually have pretty high hopes for it for the first time ever.
I hope your trip is going well

Do you like thunderstorms?

lnr87’s Profile Photospuʎ˥
Stinkin' love 'em. I saw a fantastic one one night on my trip at like 4 am, it actually woke me up it was so loud, and I had a brilliant time with it. I took a video and caught some wicked lightning bolts in it. Wild times my friend.

At what point do you decide to exchange your tele digits with another being?Aka, when you don’t associate them to what yo’ mama taught you to be wary of a possible white van owning, candy handing out “stranger danger”? (p.s. This is not me trying to slide into the DM’s! xD Just curious on thoughts)

I'm pretty open with my number so long as a) I know who I'm talking to (like face to face, not an online person and not necessarily someone I literally already know), b) they don't give me a creepy vibe, c) I don't get the impression they're going to be annoying, and d) I like them enough to talk to them via text or call too. Over the years I've given my number to only four people I've met online. One was a stupid mistake, one could've been a good friend but sort of dropped off the radar little by little, one was a failed "love interest", and one is my current partner. I'd say in ~10 years of having a phone, only 4 people is a pretty impressive number. It's not that I won't give my number to people online, I just really highly prefer to have a pretty decent level of trust and sometimes that involves a little more than just having "chatted" for like 2 hours.

This is another question about episode 1 of The Handmaid's Tale. How would you determine who to trust if you were noticing scary changes in your society? Would you trust everyone you trusted before?

I'm genuinely unsure of how I would determine who to trust after something like that has already happened. I may just remain distrustful of anyone new if it means keeping myself safe. And I already don't 150% trust very many people at all so I think it's safe to say that the people I trust now would still very much be trusted even should similar things occur in real life.

This is an question about episode 1 of The Handmaid's Tale. How do you think you'd react to the formation of a fascist government? Offred and her family try to escape it in the first scene of this episode. Is that something you'd try to do? If so, how soon would you run?

I think my initial reaction would be fear, as I'm sure most people's first reaction would be. I'd like to think I'd get a bit of a head start and manage to run before things get bad enough, like it was with Offred and her family, but I have a feeling I'd end up in her position where I try to run and end up losing everything instead, including myself, because I get caught. But regardless of head starts and timing, I'd attempt to get away as soon as I could, whenever that may be and whatever that may imply.

How is your trip going? :)

I'm home now but it wasn't too terrible. It was HOT the entire time, which is unusual for that time of year, but oh well. I'm sad to be away from the older family members, especially my grandparents, but I'm happy to be back on US soil. Well, it's a happy/sad more than a happy happy but that's how life is for me so there's not too much I can do about it lol. Thanks for asking, lovely!

What are some things which are a big NO for you when dating someone? (Can't be shorter than you, can't already have kids etc)

youcuntx’s Profile PhotoJ.
Height-- he has to be taller than me, and 5'9" at least.
Body-- cannot be obese (and I mean like 275+ lbs but especially the ones who need like gastric bypass surgeries), too thin (seriously don't want someone thinner than me; I've always been uncomfortable with that idea), or too muscular (I really don't like men who are extremely buff)
Age-- cannot be younger than me, like significantly so; more than a few months younger than me is too much for me personally. simultaneously cannot be too much older than me. my limit used to be 4 years, I've upped it to 6 but even then I'm just not too keen on bigger age gaps.
Physically that's about all I can think of. Personality/character wise I *think* I'm a little bit more forgiving?? So long as they're mentally age appropriate, capable of being independent, etc. and not like rude or snotty I'm pretty chill with almost anyone.

What problem or situation did TV/movies make you think would be common, but when you grew up you found out it wasn’t?

High school, actually lol. I really thought high school was going to be more like it is in the entertainment world and I was honestly pretty terrified. Then it turned out to be a pretty great experience and I actually liked almost all of my classmates.

I don't think there is anything I *prefer* eating later, but I do love me some (cold) leftover pizza and chinese as well.

When does it stop being partly cloudy and start being partly sunny?

I always call it partly cloudy if it's more sunny than cloudy and I call it partly sunny if it's more cloudy than sunny. I have no clue if that's right though :p

What's one trivial thing that bugs you?

lumos_shreya’s Profile PhotoShreya
The first thing that popped into my head (honest to god, and it does really bug me actually though) is girls who wear their bags in the crook of their elbow. That shit drives me insane. It just looks so snobby to me. I really don't mean any offense to those who do carry their bags that way but it just irks me like crazy and I have no idea why it's so annoying lol.
