Do you prefer planning or improvising? 😇

redoasis2017’s Profile Photo★ ☮ ♫ イ乇刀ムᄃノのひ丂 イのᄊᄊムリ™ ▩ ♚ ☻
I used to be good at planning and organising things but found it a bit stressful too.
I also used to be pretty spontaneous.
So I don’t know which dominated out of those back in the day, but now neither are really relevant.

Hi can I ask for some advice? I'm autistic and I'm thinking of learning to swim, I've got armbands and a ring I could use but I feel embarrassed, do I really need to learn how to swim? can't afford other aids or lessons and I'm scared of the water plus can't float and nearly experienced drowning:/

Hi. My answer will be roughly the same as it was for the last couple of times you’ve asked this.
If the suggestions people on here (including me) haven’t worked for you, then organising some therapy to help you work through this issue is probably the best option.
(Alternatively you could just avoid bodies of water altogether and not ever need to swim, though I guess you never know when you might suddenly have to. )

Have you ever taken on a leadership role of any kind? How well do you think you do / did? 🤝📣

Yeah, and it went OK. I'm good at organising and getting things done, but I don't like bossing people around and I actually don't like relying on others to do aspects of a task if I don't know them REALLY well, so... It wasn't the most comfortable experience.

How often (If ever) does it happen that you enter a "flow-state"? Like when you're so focused on a task you almost forget to eat etc. Do you remember what you were doing last time that happened? ✏️⌨️

This happens whenever i've been deep cleaning, D.I.Y or organising. Become so transfixed that i'll only remember to have an occasional water break

Halloween's coming. 😁 How do you usually prepare for it? Do you do anything to get in a spooky mood? 🎃

M1ssSemy’s Profile PhotoStar. i
We dont celebrate Halloween here in spooky way 😅, some basic schools are organising parties with masks or night sleeping in school gym with showing some scary movies suitable for children 👻

1. Do you enjoy organising your things? (Example- clothes, makeup, books, etc.) 2. What's something that you love to organise and something that you hate to organise?

M1ssSemy’s Profile PhotoStar. i
I am very systematic person, I have organised all my things somehow 😅, even clothes and books as per color 😂, photos as per years etc...And I like it! Am I autistic anyhow? 🤔

If you went to university do you think people who didn't go missed out? People who didn't go to university do you think you missed out?

Shannon678900’s Profile PhotoShannon
Well I didn’t do university by the traditional route. So I had the experience of working full time from 16, but I got the university learning experience by studying later, and then the social experience by working in universities much later and helping to organising activities, Freshers Week and so on.
But anyway, while obviously people will technically ‘miss out’ on whatever they don’t do, it doesn’t mean they should ‘miss’ it - university life’s not for everyone.

What is on your mind?

There are quite some things on my mind atm:
☀️ Summer plans. I’m trying to make sure we have everything we need before my boyfriend leave for vacation next month.
🌻 School stuff. I’m almost done with my study. I need to get some last things organised before I’m done.
🍉 Job related stuff. Just every day tasks that needs to get done for my job.
🍓 Organising every day to be the most productive and also most suitable to me at the same time.
What is on your mind

With summer (or winter) not too far away now, do you have any plans for the upcoming months? ☀️🏖

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
Winter will be coming here soon in Australia , and I’ve planned to go away Camping with my brother and our families . So already organising warm clothes , tents , fishing gear and marshmallows to toast around the fire 🔥

How organized would you say that you are? What do you do to organize? 🗄📒

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
I love organising, right now I really don't have a chance in expressing myself.
I organise things I can, such as my makeup box.
I've organised the documents. Everything has its own folder.
I want to do more but we're moving soon.
I'm one of those who plays video games and reloads the game so many times, because everything has to be visually perfect. (City builders and similar) 😅 kind of an OCD thing.

Share a little about you

My name is Freya but you can call me Frey. I currently live in London. I’m Welsh and was brought up in Cumbria from the age of 5. 🌾 For work, I’m in design engineering, working as a technician in a machine shop.
🌸 Slightly more random childhood facts in no particular order… I grew up camping, travelling, climbing and skiing, catching frogs and building forts in the woods with my siblings. We loved water balloons, Yu-Gi-Oh cards, and air soft guns. Cozy coupe cars, jelly shoes, blacksmithing, the stars and alternative rock/grunge bands were my jam. I dreamed of living on a canal/narrowboat. I think the closest things to dolls that I really enjoyed was the doll house itself and Polly Pockets and what I enjoyed equally as much as playing with my toys was organising them 😂 I think I’m a type-A gal.
I want a van life or something like that, it’s actually less about travel and more about simplicity. The less cluttered I keep my external life, the easier it is for me to think clearly. I’m more able to answer cliche but important questions. Knowing myself is something I really value and it makes me a better person to those around me. I feel much more present and at peace. 🤍
I’m probably a classic 90s kid with a love of learning by doing.

Could you tell us a little about your condition of dyscalculia?

StephenInd’s Profile PhotoStephen Ind
Sure thing!
Well, to begin, dyscalculia is a disability and not a condition. It’s part of the Specific Learning Differences and it’s basically the same as dyslexia, but with numbers.
With dyscalculia, the capability to automate processes of and with numbers is affected. This can result in different ways.
1. People can have trouble recognizing and writing the number. It’s like the same when people with dyslexia have trouble recognizing a letter. It’s not automated, so it’s hard to simply call it up in your brain.
I luckily don’t have this problem, however, I tend to miscall numbers, especially when there are two numbers together, for example 24. In English you say twenty four, but in Dutch you basically say ‘four and twenty’, so the opposite. I’ve always had trouble with that.
2. People with dyscalculia can have a huge problem with automating formulas. It’s the same as with recognizing, they’re not stored well into the brain and it’s hard to get to it too.
I have this. I can basically do + formulas with numbers up until 12. Anything above that is a mess and it becomes blurry and chaotic, but also empty in my mind. Very frustrating, considering I had YEARS of extra training and help.
Don’t even get me started on math lol.
3. People with dyscalculia may have trouble telling the time.
Luckily this one doesn’t apply to me. I do have trouble with time management though, which is also related to dyscalculia.
4. People with dyscalculia may have trouble with spacial awareness.
For example: having trouble to see and knowledge that there are three apples in a basket on the table. Without necessary having to count them.
Due to the fact that dyscalculia is linked to executive functions, my long term and short term memory are affected. This means I have to write every task I need to do down, otherwise I’ll forget about it. I tend to take pictures and videos, these are my memory cues for later. I have trouble organising and planning and my inner-speech is affected. Which means I don’t have inner-speech unless I actively do so.
If you have any more questions about this, please let me know! 😊
