Who or what made you smile today?

I received a beautiful package from a friend in Ireland, and what a bonus that it arrived on St. Patrick's Day. Perfect!

If you were a different gender, what name would you want to have?

This is a cool question and I'm really not sure. Perhaps I would still be Kelli, only with a Y...Kelly is a male name originally. I also like the name Kellen. I'm a big fan of John (but that's my brother's name, so that wouldn't work) and I also like the names Christian, Martin, Clark, and Wesley. I do know that if I had been a boy, my mom said she was pretty set on Brandon Shane.

At what age did you find out that Santa wasn’t real?

I was about 8 or 9 years old. I was absolutely FURIOUS, not because he wasn't real, but because I had been lied to. I decided then that if ever I had kids, I would not lie about Santa.

What is the most dangerous thing you have ever done?

Climbing the second tallest lighthouse in America, in spite of Periodic Paralysis and a bad knee. I was on a walking cane and having to step sideways while hanging onto the rail. One wrong move and I would have been a dead woman. Terrifying to think about now, but I'm so glad I did it. Reaching the top, looking at the sights, then making it back down safely was a tremendous accomplishment for me. I had a paralytic episode in the middle of the night as a result, but I don't regret it. I still refer to it as "my lighthouse".

Who would you most like to be stuck in an elevator with?

Preferably somebody funny, who isn't freaking out by the fact that we're stuck in an elevator. I got stuck in one a few years ago with a large group of people, and I was the only funny one there...believe me.

When you need advice, who do you go to?

Depends on what I need advice about. That makes all the difference in who I talk to.

Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?

I used to think so, but I've found that some things are just senseless. Ask a grieving parent why they buried their baby. Ask an innocent person why they were victimized. Ask a homeless child why they're on the street. There's no valid reason for that kind of suffering.

What female celebrity do you wish was your sister?

Jennifer Lawrence (I'll bet that's a popular answer), or Sandra Bullock.

What is the best news you could hear right now?

That a cure has been discovered for both Cancer and Periodic Paralysis.

What 3 countries would you most like to visit?

Italy, United Kingdom (preferably Scotland), and France

What was the smartest decision you have ever made?

Rejecting relationship proposals (the ones I accepted were definitely the dumbest decisions I've ever made).

What was your first paying job?

Printshop apprentice for minimum wage (loved it and still miss the place 20 years later).

If you were given a time machine to travel backwards in time, what are the three mistakes that you would want to rectify?

Three relationships, including my marriage. I would have never met any of those people if I could change the past.

How do you see yourself spending your time in your old age?

I hope and pray I'm sitting on a porch, sipping iced tea, with few worries, watching the sun set in a city I don't hate.

What would be your ideal lifestyle?

Living comfortably in a city I love, physically capable of doing whatever I choose as a career, traveling occasionally, working with kids every once in a while, single and completely independent.
Ideally, I would choose to be a successful published author, possibly children's books, which would allow me to travel for book signings and hang with kids. (I thought this through more than I realized)

If you had a boat, what would you name it?

I love this question. I might name it Silk Ridge II, as my PawPaw's boat was called Silk Ridge and it is no longer in existence. It's a sentimental memory, though. If I didn't go with that, it might be something simple such as my last name, or something cute and Southern like Gulf Coast Girl, Shrimp & Grits, or Bowl O' Gumbo. :-)

If you had to evacuate your house immediately, what is the one thing you would grab on the way out?

My Macbook Pro. Dead serious.

What's the longest you've waited in line and what were you waiting for?

All day long at Six Flags for a music event.
