What causes you to panic?

Paralytic episodes (I have Familial Periodic Paralysis). Imagine something similar to a seizure, but instead of uncontrolled movement, it's uncontrolled non-movement. I literally cannot move while fully awake, aware, and feeling pain. Sometimes it is life-threatening, and those kind of episodes would make anyone panic.

Which was the moment when you felt really proud about yourself?

1. When I stood my ground concerning the terms of my divorce
2. Successfully road-tripping to Florida to become Bob Ross certified in spite of my disability
3. Fighting my way through over half of my college degree, with a near-perfect score, until I was forced to quit (and I didn't quit easily).
May the world forever know my passion for life, how hard I try, and how stubborn I am. It is the only reason I am still alive today, and I'm proud of that.

Are you afraid of falling in love?

That's a bit overromanticized if you ask me. Falling in love is a choice, and love is more than just a feeling. In my case, it has nothing to do with fear and everything to do with the fact that I don't want to do it. Period.

If someone sent you a human heart for valentines day, what would you think?

I would return to sender. I don't celebrate Valentines Day.

What is the most popular sport in your country?

It depends on which part of the country you live in. In my region, it is definitely football (American, not Soccer).

What's a crazy thing you did that you got in trouble for as a kid?

My cousins and I walked around the neighborhood putting random notes in people's mailboxes, which turned out to be a federal offense (no charges were filed, thankfully).

Do you make decisions spontaneously or chart out a plan first?

I am spontaneous on occasion, but I am a usually a planner/preparer extraordinaire.

Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?

I hope to God I'm in my own apartment in a town I don't hate. That is priority #1. I also plan to have quite a few short stories, children's books, and novels written, and a better art portfolio.

Who was the last person you gave a gift to?

My niece and her parents, since they were unable to travel for Christmas. They received their gifts late.

Could you go for the rest of your life without drinking alcohol?

I certainly could, considering that I don't drink it to begin with.

Do you wear any t-shirts with funny sayings on them?

I have a Doctor Who shirt that says Keep Calm and Don't Blink. I also have several awesome Bob Ross T-shirts.

Which countries have you visited?

Sadly, the only place I have been to outside the US is Canada. Wish I could go across the pond and tour Europe. It has been a lifelong dream, but alas, it will remain a dream.

What is your idea of paradise?

I think the band Point of Grace said it well:
"No more pain
No more sorrow
No more waiting
For illusive tomorrows
No more pain
No more dying
No more striving or strain
No more pain"

What could you do as a child that you can't do now?

I have Muscular Dystrophy, so take your pick. There are many things I can't do now that I was able to do back then. I was a fairly athletic child. I was a 2nd place short track runner and a 1st place high jumper in elementary school. I can't even walk now without help from a cane, crutches, walker, or wall to lean on.

Do you prefer to eat at a restaurant or at home?

Home isn't the most comfortable place for me. I love going to restaurants, if they don't suck.

How often do you draw?

Not nearly enough, since I am supposed to be an artist. I really need to become more disciplined, but I'm just so tired and weak all the time. Some days, I can't use my hands enough to do much more than type. Drawing is not an easy as it looks...it requires muscle control, stamina, motor skills...it's actually quite challenging.

What was the last life-changing decision you had to make?

I'll say deleting and/or blocking over 30 people who claimed at one time to be my friend probably qualifies as life-changing. Some of those people, I used to talk to on a regular basis.
Prior to that, applying for social security disability certainly changed my life forever, but it wasn't a decision I intended to make. I was forced.

What is the scariest movie you have ever seen?

Amityville II, but to be fair I was only 8 years old. I had night terrors so severe, I ended up sleeping with my mother for a couple of years. She says she regrets letting me watch it to this day.
