There's nothing like six rejected scholarship applications.
One after another and you would think that it'd stop hurting after the second or third, but it doesn't stop hurting. It's also one of the reasons why I find it really hard to believe good things about myself. I don't think I've stopped being rejected though, I can feel more rejections coming in the future and I'm trying to accept the fact that I have a natural talent in being rejected for scholarships.
Boys don't hurt you like that. Boys don't hurt you anywhere near six rejected scholarship applications.

Sastra rusia bcs good old Nabokov spoke english, french and russian and he had never missed and loved any language as much as he missed and loved russian.

It was Korea's education system. I personally think that Korea has such a good education, although it pushes the students too much.

I did a research on SK back in 2015 for an MUN--and honestly if you ask me, the whole thing is just disturbing. It's great and all, in terms of academic achievements and the determination of the overall population, but the things that disturb me honestly outnumber the things that amazes me. The country is always ranked as one of the countries with top education, but when that number is accompanied by being at the top of the list of suicide rates all over the world (and a growing suicide rate for people aged 10-19), it's just suddenly not all that fascinating anymore to me.
I definitely can't say that it only consists of bad things since I'm yet to experience it myself (and I definitely can't pinpoint which exact factors are in need of evaluation) but there has got to be something damaging in the system. It's very exam-oriented and the academic elitism is strong, there are so many college graduates but they all only want to work for a number of companies (namely Samsung, Hyundai, etc.), a lack of people who are willing to opt for vocational jobs, and it's literally almost like education and working white collar jobs are your life and death. You've probably heard of the 'generation that let go of three/six things' trend, and it shows just how much education and occupation play their parts in a person's life--it matters so much, so much until it has basically reached a damaging stage.
Long story short: it's great, yes. 85% of the population go to college. 99.9% are literate. Would I let my child go through 12+ years of Korean education system? No.
(Funnily, Singapore has a similar reputation in education and also has 'kiasu' culture (fear of losing)--but Singapore is not as notorious as SK and the suicide rates are far behind. I don't know if the difference in population plays the biggest part but it's definitely ineresting how two countries with a similar reputation in education and development can differ very much when it comes to the impact to the society.)
I don't know which video was being referred in your previous question, therefore I can't give an input regarding whether I think it's a propaganda from the government or not--plus ask.fm has a character limit so I can only say so much in one post.

I saw a video on YouTube showing X country explaining its educational system. It was good, I thought. But when I scrolled down to see the comments section, most of them considered it as a government propaganda. What do you think?
