Disability is not a choice. No one would choose to exist in extreme American poverty being looked down upon and misjudged by able-bodied people. I had plans for my life like everybody else, and none of those plans included relying on others to survive. Don’t take your abilities for granted.

I am dying to try it. I’ve been wanting to for more than a decade, but the instructor at the local college is an ableist jerk who said he absolutely would not accommodate my disability (I can’t carry 20-40 lbs of clay). I could have used the law to fight it but why would I give him money for a class when I don’t even want to know him?
At any rate, I’ll pursue it on my own with a $40 kid-sized pottery wheel someday. 👍🏼

What is something you have always wanted to try but have been too scared to ... ?¿

Taking a flight. I’ve never been on a plane, because having an episode on a flight could be catastrophic, but I think at this point in my life I would try it if I had a safe and knowledgable person with me.

I climbed Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and bought a certificate saying such. It was so painful and difficult, as I have muscle disease, and I had a myotonic episode after, so needless to say I earned that certificate. It’s in a frame, currently in storage.

Almost every darn one of them. Weeks and weeks of Who marathoning several years back. I’ve been called a “Doctor Who encyclopedia” by a regional fan group leader (I no longer participate in fan groups, though).
