Do people ever freak out in your area when weird weather happens? It's about to snow here in everyone's buying absolutely all of the groceries off the shelf. Absolutely strange.

Ice_Frozen_Vocals’s Profile PhotoŞωεεT† ɮȩ̷̠̝͙̎̑̆ℓℓล ♡♪
England seems to grind to a halt when we have half an inch of snow. Well, in the south it does. Up north I guess they're more used to it.
Being an island in a temperate climate, we don't get the extremes of weather that larger continents can experience.

Have you ever cried tears of joy?

sister__morphine’s Profile Photoꜱɪꜱᴛᴇʀ ᴍᴏʀᴘʜɪɴᴇ
Hmmm... not that I recall, but then I'm not a very emotional person really.
However, I did make someone else cry tears of joy recently. I'm not even really sure what I did or said, but it was humbling.
Given my last answer to you, that word needs some explanation. This from Google:
When someone says "I am humbled," generally he means that he has been made to feel more modest , or perhaps undeserving. Someone who has just been given a compliment might make a polite show of modesty by saying, "I am humbled by your generosity," meaning he feels he really doesn't live up to the compliment.

First film that comes to mind when you hear the name, Tom Hanks?

KrisKnowles’s Profile PhotoXLPX
Big.
Not my favourite, good though it is. I've probably seen it too many times. I love Cast Away, and The Terminal.

thank you for answer and correction , I feel like you can be my English teacher 😋😈😏

sister__morphine’s Profile Photoꜱɪꜱᴛᴇʀ ᴍᴏʀᴘʜɪɴᴇ
To be honest, I was surprised by the error. You send me lots of good questions and your English is normally perfect. That was the first time I've had a hint that English might not be your first language.
If the transfer of the object is done by some one else then you receive the object. If the transfer is done by yourself then you take it.
So you receive a gift or receive email but take an item from the cupboard or take a photograph with a camera.

how has your january been so far?

nurbzee’s Profile Photonurulhuda
Uneventful, but the highlight of my day today was mending three faults on my toilet.
Just to be clear, that's the toilet that was faulty, I didn't mend stuff while sitting on the toilet 🤣

What mobile phone model do you have?

It was the cheapest Android phone that Argos sold at the time, an Alcatel Pixi 4, which cost me £50, sim free.
It's perfectly good for basic stuff, but the camera isn't great. I don't use it a lot so I didn't need anything better. For example, on Pay As You Go I typically spent about £3 a month on calls and data before Covid, and about 50p a month currently.

Is there anything you’ve tried to do or practice/ skill/ learn and still can’t get it right? I’m trying to draw hands and I just can’t 🤦‍♀️

Anything creative I suck at, whether it's drawing, painting, music, dance, writing, poetry, craft, acting, or anything like that. If I try REALLY hard and practise like hell then I might turn out something ok, but then a few weeks later I'll suck at it again.

Giving OR taking GIFTS? 🎁

sister__morphine’s Profile Photoꜱɪꜱᴛᴇʀ ᴍᴏʀᴘʜɪɴᴇ
(The opposite of giving is receiving)
I love giving gifts, I'm just really bad at knowing what to give. Some people are really easy to buy for, but most I struggle with.
I like receiving gifts too, but I am aware that I must be really hard to buy for as well. However, I will appreciate almost anything that is home made, whether it's food, a piece of art, or just a handmade card.

How’s Covid going where you live?

carlahall88’s Profile PhotoCarla Hall x
I'm on the edge of London. It's pretty bad here, with close to 1 in 50 people with it. Still plenty of Covidiots about though, congregating in groups that are clearly not in the same household. They shouldn't just fine them, they should make them dig the graves.

Describe your neighborhood!

LouisaRHale’s Profile PhotoLou
Pretty sure I answered this about 4 months ago, and so I think this is just another Zombie Shoutout because #AskIsBroken
I live in a quiet neighbourhood on the edge of a big city. Easy access to both town and countryside. The streets are leafy and there are plenty of parks. The neighbours are pleasant, and crime is low, but retail opportunities are scarce without travelling.

Anyone actually use their coins for anything? Wish we had more variety of regards

I recently paid 50 coins to "increase my engagement" or something like that. That seemed to coincide with a mass influx of ancient shoutouts, but I'm not sure that's connected as other people who didn't buy that boost seem to have had the same problems. I think it might have promoted a couple of my posts on the Discover page which resulted in dozens of likes on a trivial answer that I wrote, with no value to it, but that's the only effect I think.
I couldn't care less about "engagement" other than genuine questions from people who follow me, I just thought I'd try it to see what happens.

do young people use this app even?😂👏🏻

MarianMaronMarko’s Profile PhotoMARIAN
I've seen a couple of 14 year olds on here, but mostly it's 18 to 26 I'd say. A handful up to early 30s, and a few over that (upto about 70, I think is the oldest I've seen). The older they are, the better answers they give. It's a pretty good correlation although there are many exceptions.

How many meals have you burned when cooking?

LouisaRHale’s Profile PhotoLou
Surprisingly few. I've certainly overcooked the odd thing, but proper black charcoal on fire type of burnt, I don't think any, other than toast.

Would you rather have a small boat or a camper van? Why?

My family owned a canal boat when I was a kid and I remember many great family holidays on it. However, it's a slow way to travel (not necessarily a bad thing), and you're very limited in where you can go on rivers and canals. The sea holds little interest for me. The camper van sounds much more flexible.

What part of math, did you struggle to learn most?

I've always been pretty good at mathS, whether it was calculus, matrices, vectors, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, probability, statistics, permutations & combinations etc, or just plain arithmetic. The hardest thing was probably when trigonometry and calculus were combined together, but that was like right at the end of the A level syllabus.

Are you still eating Christmas dinner leftovers? I am 😂

ThatLatvianLass’s Profile Photo♡•FluffyPussy•♡
I put 12 portions of turkey in the freezer on Christmas day, and 8 portions of goose on 6th January. I'm going to be eating it for a long time yet.
I also have a Christmas pudding that serves 8 which I haven't started yet.

What was the last movie you went to? What did you think?

Razvan220699’s Profile PhotoRăzvan
Cinemas haven't been open for nearly a year. Or if they have, you wouldn't catch me in one right now.
The last film I saw in a cinema was probably The Invisible Man (2020 version). I thought it was really good. Quite a bit of tension given that a lot of the time you couldn't see who was causing it!
