Are you more into looks or brains?

sister__morphine’s Profile Photoꜱɪꜱᴛᴇʀ ᴍᴏʀᴘʜɪɴᴇ
Good brains are often hard to spot on a first encounter, so I can't deny that looks are important for attraction at the start. But a lack of brains (not a lack of education, which isn't quite the same due to circumstances) is a turn off once it is detected.
Brains are more important, always.

Harry Potter movies - Yay or Nay?

I've seen them all, someone lent me the box set, but not a fan tbh. I've only read the first book.

‘You see a read door and you want to paint it...?’

"Black" would be the correct song lyric but it's a bad colour for a door. Black doors absorb heat on hot sunny days and then they expand and don't close properly.

What’s Your Favourite Christmas Things To Bake?

I made a Christmas cake a few days ago but I've not iced it yet. I often make mince pies, but not done any yet. My favourite is probably a mincemeat slice thing that I make, which is like two layers of oats/syrup with mincemeat in between. I also make an excellent stollen, but again not done that yet. I will have some marzipan left over after I've iced the cake, so I might make a stollen for New Year.

Have you ever written a poem? If yes, what was it about?

I have been known to write love poems in the past. They were probably extremely cheesy. Poetry is not one of my talents.

Have you ever blocked someone if so why

I often block shoutouts that arrive in a foreign language, just to stop the pointless notifications, unless I know it's from a person who also often sends in English.
The only other person I remember blocking is Ben the racist. If you don't know who that is, consider yourself very lucky

If you listen VERY carefully to the scientists talking about the new Covid genetic variation, they are NOT saying that the current vaccines will work against it, they are saying that there is no evidence that vaccines (in general) cannot work against it. That is very different. Vaccines are still possible, but not necesarily the ones they just developed.
I am wondering if it explains why the vaccines are not 100% effective, because some of the people who still caught Covid after being vaccinated caught a different strain to what they were expecting. I'm not aware of any of the vaccine trials having done genetic sequencing on the trial participants who still caught Covid to see which one they caught, but maybe they did.

Morning people 🖐 where around the world are you?

Getting a crazy number of shootouts today. Is today the day that Ask sets the tasks for all the VIP users or something?
I'm in London UK, and you ought to be getting replies only from people close to you, but the algorithms are so screwed up today that anything could happen.

What was your favorite toy as a kid? PAP

Did you really just send this? You've been inactive for a month but something weird is happening to shoutouts today and really old ones are turning up unexpectedly.
My favorite was scalextric the slot car racing set.

Is there anyone you would normally see at Christmas but won't be able to this year due to covid?

PrincessTally’s Profile PhotoPrincess Tally
Pretty well all my family. They all live further north and close together, but not close to me. Normally I'd go and see them all, but not this year because I'm in tier 4.

What was/is your favorite subject from/at school/college/uni?

KrisKnowles’s Profile PhotoXLPX
At school it was Electronics (not many schools teach that), and at university I studied Physics. I preferred the more practical options such as optics, atmospherics and electronics rather than the theoretical ones like particles, relativity and quantum mechanics.

How are you?

I seem to be receiving loads of shoutouts from foreign accounts, something has gone wrong with Ask's algorithms.
I am very good, thank you, random shoutout lady.

How many siblings do you have?

JoeeeMason’s Profile PhotoJoe Edward Mason
If you'd asked me a year ago I'd have said two sisters and a brother, although one sister died a few years back.
In actual fact, I have three sisters, but one died before I was born (she was about 7 at the time I think), but I never used to count her. She just wasn't in my consciousness because obviously I never met her, but hearing my other siblings talk about her recently has made me realise that I had missed one out.

Do you read books? Which was the last book you read?📚

ThatLatvianLass’s Profile Photo♡•FluffyPussy•♡
I'm not much of a reader to be honest. I tend to read just for information and education, not for fun. So mostly newspapers, a couple of magazines, and reference books.
I can't even remember the last fiction book I read. Maybe something by Ben Elton. Whatever it was, it would have been short and light.

Haha. I didn’t know I was on that list. Thank you!🤗🤗🤗 London is a lovely area, when I was living there I really enjoy it, but now living in a quiet zone... I would never choose London over this place. 🦋

screams6’s Profile PhotoAndreea ♡
You're definitely on the list, you ask great questions.
I used to live right in the centre of London, which was great for a while, but now I'm on the edge which is much quieter and more green.
May I ask your name? I only know you as an incomprehensible squiggle that doesn't display properly on my browser (or maybe that IS your name, haha). If you'd rather not, that's fine.

What are you most looking forward too about Christmas? Dinner for me😍

l_bullock’s Profile PhotoLuke Bullock
It's going to be a quiet one this year but I agree, Christmas Dinner is probably what I'm looking forward to most. I'll be the one cooking it.
Note to anybody who is cooking a frozen turkey this year - check the defrosting time! I've got a relatively small one of around 4.7kg but I calculate it is going to take around 52 hours to defrost in the fridge, which means I need to start on Tuesday night at the latest. If you've got a really big frozen turkey it will take even longer. Don't be tempted to defrost it at room temperature - that is a sure fire way to get salmonella poisoning because the outside of the turkey will become too warm for too long, you must do it in the fridge.

If you were given a chance to live somewhere else, where would you?

screams6’s Profile PhotoAndreea ♡
Ooh, hello :-) I've found you again!
You are one of my favourites on Ask but I lost your link when my account got closed down and I had to start a new one.
I *do* have a chance to live somewhere else. I used to work in Central London so I was restricted to living within easy commuting difference, but now that I work exclusively from home (even before Covid) then in theory I could live anywhere in the World with a decent internet connection. Even the time zone wouldn't matter too much as my work is rarely time critical.
I've thought quite a lot about moving, but I've travelled quite a lot around the World and I've never been anywhere that felt like I could make it home, so I'm pretty sure I'll stay in the UK.
I love living near London, but I'd also like to live nearer to the sea and nearer to my family (who live neither near London nor near the sea), so it looks like I cannot have everything I want. On balance, I think I've decided that I want to stay here, but I am open to changing my mind.

Which day out of the year do you celebrate the most

I guess it's Christmas. I made this table decoration this afternoon, from bits and bobs around the house, and holly from my garden.
