Do you use the shout out feature, on ask.fm? Are you generally the shout out asker or answerer? :P What are your thoughts on it? Does it need improvement? If so, where?

I very rarely use it to send, but I do answer most of the ones that ask decent questions. "Hi" or obvious spam from VIPs gets deleted straight away though, or even blocked for persistent offenders.
The feature is seriously broken though at the moment. It's sending Shoutouts that are more than 2 months old in some cases, and shoutouts from people that have deactivated or, worse, been banned, ages ago.

I think you mean "Old Wive's Tale".
My mum wrote the book on old wive's tales. So I'm sure I've ignored more than most, but not sure I can actually name one. They tend to go in one ear and out the other.

The general principle is ok, but there are all sort of problems around abuse, blocking, security and just plain bad coding that results in bugs such as the current Zombie Shoutout issues where shoutouts sent by users who were banned from the platform weeks ago are still being circulated.

How often do you treat yourself?

Not good at that, to be honest. Today I spent £25 on a replacement hammer drill, which is the first money that I have spent on anything other than bills and groceries since November. And that's not exactly what you'd call a treat.
I do treat myself to something nice from Tesco sometimes, when I order my groceries, maybe a cake or some sweets or something, but that's about it.

What’s the longest time you’ve been single for?

If you count my entire life, about 20 years, from 0 to 20. I was a late starter.
After that, it's kinda hard to say sometimes what counts as single and what doesn't.

I've missed going to gigs, and I've missed seeing friends. A lot of my friends follow the same bands as me, but they live all over the country.
Once the pandemic is over I'd like to go to more gigs outside of London, to (a) see more gigs, and (b) see more friends.
I'm kinda spoilt living near London as pretty well every band plays here at some point on their tour, but I'm happy to travel elsewhere to see bands as long as I'm not going to be on my own when I get there.

I've answered this a few times over the years, but not on this account.
The smell of roses always takes me back to the garden of my parent's house when I was about 6 or 7. My two older sisters and I used to sit in the summer house in the garden crushing petals from the rose garden to make perfume. We dissolved the oils in water and bottled it.
Whilst it smelled great for a short while, after a few hours it oxidised, turned brown and then smelt really bad.
Knowing what I know now, we should have dissolved them in alcohol instead, to preserve them. One of my sisters was probably old enough to know that, if she had paid attention in Chemistry class, so I blame her, haha.

Do you think you have ‘thick skin’ ? Or are you more sensitive?

I'm pretty thick-skinned really. It takes a lot to upset me, and if something does then I don't usually have a problem with just walking away from it. I simply don't care enough about those things which have potential to upset me to hang around and let them do more damage.

I miss university sometimes. I had a lot of friends there, the course was very interesting, and I lived in a great location.
School, not so much. I mean, it was ok, but nothing especially memorable
