I’m a registered nurse and I’d say we’re taught the opposite. But connection require a tenacity of purpose and a heart capable of contextualizing. Most nurses become or are maybe on the path to being sociopaths. Which is when one places money before lives
I do agree with that, 100%. In my country, it is far more common to hear of someone going into Nursing because “it’s good money” than a selfless calling. I have personally known many nurses through the years, and the vast majority who have talked about it chose the pursuit because it’s a fast track degree with decent starting pay. My personal experience with has varied from “This one is nice and actually seems to care, what a relief” to absolute monsters who have no business in a service industry. It’s disheartening and very stressful being a chronic patient forced to rely on medical professionals for my quality of life, when I am merely a number on a chart to them. It’s scary.

Writing can be a great outlet. I’ve been journaling since childhood, and it has saved me in many ways. I’m sorry you have no one to open up to, and I hope that changes for you someday if that’s what you want. If the resource is available to you, don’t hesitate to talk to a counselor. I would leave. TBH I don’t understand people who choose to spend their entire lives in the same place. Especially that place. But I guess some people are comfortable in their small world. Mind you, I’m from a town of 18,000 so that’s all I can relate to. I figure big cities are a very different experience.

No way. Cherries launch my gag reflex into hyperdrive. I would try vanilla but I can’t do anything cherry but a cough drop.

Expectation v/s reality?
Frequently two very different things! That’s why relationships often fail. There’s a lot of danger in idealism. Realism is hard, but for the best because inevitable disappointment is less severe when you face reality from day one.
