What's something small that made a massive difference in your life? 👍
I took a free open online series of world religion courses through Harvard. It was my first unbiased study of the history of Christianity, and I learned about other world religions for the first time. It opened my eyes and changed the way I think about almost everything regarding religion, both in general as well as my own beliefs.
Are you more like your mum or your dad? In what way? 👍
I am a turbulent combination of the two. My life with them was difficult. In spite of them being gone for years now, I still have moments when I hear myself acting like them, especially my reactions to things. I’m in therapy now trying to talk it out and deal with it. On a lighter note, I also have a couple of their good qualities. Sometimes I’ll do cartoon voices or break into song just like they did. Those moments are pretty funny and definitely remind me of them. They also passed down their interest in sports.
A blessing in disguise to some 👍 😂

I miss college even though it made my condition worse and almost literally killed me.

I miss my friend Deanna who died.
I miss Jorge and I wish him the best.

Seriously, I don’t have the answer. I guess we’re just wired that way. Everybody wants to be loved. Even me. The problem is that many people fall in love with the idea of love and not the actual person for who they are. It’s an act of escapism, but that’s the human brain for ya. Don’t be too hard on yourself over it. As long as you’re not hurting someone else as a result, keep your fantasies. It’s normal. Just don’t expect authentic love to be like the ideals in your head. When you condition yourself to accept reality, that the person you love is a flawed human being just like you are, love becomes a little less foolish and a little more real. As long as you’re safe and respected, and you’re giving that same safety and respect to them, you’ll be ok. 😘
