-- self diagnosis is valid, but agreeing with a dpd post on tumblr doesn't mean you have dpd. personality disorders, schizo spectrum disorders, and disorders like dissociative identity disorder aren't as easy as reading a checklist of symptoms and agreeing.
-- trigger warnings are also valid, and they can indeed be "stupid" triggers like crabs or the colour green. while it's nice to have that buffer on places like tumblr, don't expect the world to cater to you. but refusing to tag common triggers like death, racism, etc makes u kinda gross imo
-- some mental disorders do face more stigma than others. that isn't ""oppression olympics"" that isn't "elitism", it's a fact. saying that depressed people face just as much ableism as psychotic people is bullshit, it's ableist, and it's erasure and yucky
-- telling 13-16 year old children that it's okay to drop out of school and it's okay to skip school to stay home and cry and read john green books with a lush bath bomb isn't okay either. yes, i know mental illness can interfere with school life. and it's understandable to take breaks !! but it's not okay to tell children that their education isn't important anymore because they have depression.
-- going with the above, schools need better programmes // accommodations for mentally ill kids. extending due dates, allowing stim toys and comfort objects in class, and allowing alternate work methods shouldn't be as big of a hassle to get as it is rn.
-- addicts aren't bad people. addiction is a mental illness and the stigma surrounding addiction needs to stop, it's not a fucking ""choice"" it's something that needs help and support lmao.
-- speaking of help and support, people who imply you can cure disorders with just help and support or "just be happy lol" are gross, ableist and wrong
-- also implying that taking medicine will fix everything overnight is wrong lmao
-- forced institutionalization is wrong
-- things like conversion therapy and gay conversion camps are inhumane, torture and need to be banned, it isn't "therapy" it's queerphobia and torture and absolutely disgusting
-- mentally ill people aren't broken and taking open neurodivergent kids (namely autism spectrum and psychotic kids) to prom or formal for the sole purpose of "uwu im so nice uwu" makes you gross. we aren't your charity case, we are living, human beings and we aren't usually "unwanted" or "unloved"
-- can we stop painting psychotic and delusional people as violent pls? most violent crime is committed by neurotypicals. most psychotic ppl are usually withdrawn and anxious as a result of their psychosis, not violent lmao

also to everyone who feels shitty appearance remember this: subconsciously, we rate people on say a scale of 1-10. this is instinctive, it's the same way wolves rate each other from 'alpha' to 'omega'. scientifically, we are only sexually and romantically attracted to people of the same number range as us, give or take one number. so if you are a five, you will mostly be attracted to a four or six.

my grades don't define me at all. it's something i struggled with a lot, my parents always wanted me to be an a student and my mom graduated high school at 15 and has a phd-- so i felt really bad about getting 70s and 80s.

but then i remember i can't do it. i'm not my mom or my dad or anyone else, i'm doing the best i can. an 80 something is my best. and that's okay, it doesn't make me any less of a person because i need more time on tests and forget to do homework and stammer when i give presentations-- i'm still a great person and my performance in school doesn't define my ability to be a good person.

and i'm sorry for rambling but i'm just so sick of people fifteen and younger talking about killing themselves and hurting themselves over grades. your life shouldn't be reliant on a number, it doesn't define you EVER.
