Have you ever gone through a period where you thought your life wouldn’t change but then it changed for the better?

Kinda but it was more a life changer than I thought at the time.
I was making state teams for football and basketball, but in Tassie there isn’t an opportunity to play footy at AFL level, I was offered a spot in the Brisbane lions development squad but I would have to pack up my life and move up there.
My uncle offered me an apprenticeship with him as an electrician but it would mean giving up my AFL dreams.
I chose the apprenticeship and it worked out ok for me 😊

Oh wow that’s really good 😊 you should be very proud of yourself. Im sure you’re going to be the busiest electrician in Tasmania 👌 good luck for your 2nd degree I’m sure you will smash it.

Thank you 😊
I’m not 100% sure Tasmania is the best place for me just yet, I’m sure I could make a living but I want to be able to hire others and apprentices 🙏

How's your morning? ~ It's 7am here and It's really dark and rainy outside, but I'm enjoying my hot coffee while admiring the rain.

It's currently 1:09pm here :)
It's been pouring with rain all day do far! So I'm just curled up and staying in the warm!
That being said, I'm currently waiting on an electrician cuz something has messed up somewhere in the house lol

Hope the electricity comes back soon. Do you have some blankets to keep yourself warm? :( Be safe!

Thank you!! We had an electrician around this morning for a few hours but he wasn’t able to sort the problem, so there’ll be another chap around tomorrow morning 😅 luckily I’ve got my winter duvet on and a blanket, so hopefully that’ll be okay tonight!! That’s very sweet, thank you 🤗✨

Which would frighten you? Skydiving or crawling through a tiny cave?

Both have the potential but I’m more afraid of heights than I am of the underground. I used to crawl around under houses as an apprentice electrician all the time so I’m lil more comfortable about confined underground spaces, never did well on a ladder up a considerable height so

In a universe where there will be no gravity, i would still fall for you😍 and I always thought that happiness starts with an 'H', but it turns out mine starts with 'U🥺🤭🙈 and please tell me if you're an electrician, cause you're definitely lighting up my day and night!🥰😘❤️😍🥺🤗💖

Your advice for a guy in his mid-twenties who is at the bottom who wants to get better

Well, I do not know your particular situation but it's always a good idea to sharpen your mind and body. Avoid drugs and popular distractions. When tempted, use discretion and go with your best judgment. Exercise regularly. Eat right. Learn new skills. Read. Prep. Study. Remain focused - eyes on the prize. If you have a television, put it in the f*cking trash. It's called "programming" for a reason.
Professionally, there's a great deal to say but I'll try to keep it brief. If you're good with your hands, learn a marketable skill which may help you to achieve financial independence and ultimately, your own business: plumber, mechanic, electrician, carpenter, landscaper, etc. It isn't the most glorious work but you will be able to earn a decent living for years to come...
If you're the "studious sort" / academically inclined, consider higher education but don't waste your time and resources with meme "degrees": Communications, Women’s Studies, Art Therapy, Leisure Studies or some similar horsesh!t which will never land you a decent job. Instead, focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). You may also want to consider the medical field because skilled technicians are always in demand: Dental Hygienist, Phlebotomist, Medical Assistant, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Home Health Aide, X-ray Technician, Pharmacy Technician, etc.
If you're artistic / gifted in any way, don't expect to earn a great deal but you may still put a few shekels in your pocket *IF* you can promote your creations, garner some interest and sell your work directly. Be unique. Creative. Offer what others aren't.
Final thoughts: Avoid saturated markets. For example, IT is a great career but code monkeys are a dime a dozen and easily outsourced. Unless you're looking at Alt-Tech, forget it. For more information, you can Google, "careers in demand" and "saturated careers." It may seem difficult at times and you will face setbacks (as we all do) but keep your d!ck up, remain motivated and grab life by the balls. Don't squander your most precious resource: time. Best of luck... 👍

Being an electrician , you perform a vital service in enabling the public to remain electronically connected. Does that not make you feel good ?

I don’t really look at it like that tbh. I come from a farm and I loved that lifestyle but sparky work just makes me happy because it’s so interesting and evolving. It’s kinda like playing with a new toy every day 🤓

But I've read ur answer that waas about the art u like.. So i thought i got my professional electrician 😁

graduates ARE ten a penny but so are unskilled, manual workers. i don't think i'm fetishing education. my parents encouraged our strengths. my brother left school to become an electrician & loves it (he also earns good $$). i am the bookish/brainy one. my field requires a degree. that's just a fact.

Unskilled, manual workers are more robust than the tantalised ( read about the myth of Tantalus) & fragile (+ frazzled) middle classes. I love the sound of your brother - he sounds terrific. Middle-class values are the only game in town these days (sigh).

I have no discernable skills that are of any use in the modern economy. I also hate hard work. What ought I do, other than commit suicide?

Get some skills. Apprentice yourself to an electrician (or other contractor) for minimum wage. If necessary, tell him you'll pay half of it back to him under the table. If not that, go hang around the day laborers. You'll be out-grouped but as soon as some of the contractors you are a native English speaker with at least average white intelligence, you'll probably get offerred a permanent job.
When you're not doing that, go the gym and eat right.
When you're not doing all those, find some beautiful thing to care about. Anything, so long as it's beautiful.
Idle hands (and minds) are the devil's workshop.
Do NOT commit suicide. You'll probably go to hell.

What is the most interesting place someone has made a pass at you? Did the location make it awkward? Was there a connection because of the atmosphere of the interesting location? Or did the location make it worse? Please explain.

It was a gay man outside the front of his flat and he wasn't subtle or quiet about it either. There was an electrician up a ladder fixing a light behind us and I'm sure he got front row season pass to the most awkward pass of the century. My mate who has learning difficulties was very uncomfortable by it. I found it quite amusing though.

Maybe people just see what they want to see. They only two things I know about it is that you're taken and I believe he's an electrician.

Maybe, and I have spoken about a friend who's an electrician but they're not one and the same.

I agree with that, but I don't like the chances of getting laid off, I'm kinda scared, cause what if I do end up getting laid off, finding another jobs gonna be crazy hard, and then if I can't find a job then I'm kinda fucked

You need to be passionate about what you wanna do if its definitely becoming an electrician then of course its normal for you to get these thoughts, it comes across everyones mind but when you decide for yourself that you want to be successful and you'll do whatever it takes, failure automatically falls out of the picture its a little hard to wrap your head around but it comes with time but believing in yourself is the first step to a bright future bro
