Well I don't understand why to move forward in your life you need to lose integral pieces of it? He always used to preach endlessly about how he'd never lose old friends to make new friends or value them any less but I don't really think I know who he is any more so you'd have better luck asking somebody else :P

Qualities that you like in someone don't just disappear because you're not together and you can't just say there's nothing there because then why were you with them in the first place? Should probs answer your question and I have no interest in answering any more like this

What's the best way to stop yourself from feeling sad?

Be busy! Find something productive to do or for somewhere for your energy to focus. Doesn't always work of course but it's a step in the right direction and stops you from drowning in it
