How to come up with unique ideas?
The only thing I can say is to put your own twist. Some part of your idea has probably been used before (a girl falling in love with her former enemy, a teen finding out their part of a prophecy/magical world, etc.), but if you put your own twist, you'll make your own.
I love your stories so much and I just want a few things that would be on your bucket list for summer of your senior year in high school bc I'm writing a bucket list story and I want things that aren't cliché (no first kiss yes drive in movies) things that could work for a boy and a girl :)

- finish these first drafts
- read all these books you haven't read
- learn how to drive even though the thought scares you a loooot
- meet another watty friend in person

Any advice on how to slow down a story when writing? Like those people that write about two people meeting and then the next they're kissing or whatever. It's hard for me to come up with scenes in between my main parts.
I'm sorry for taking so long to reply to this. In all honesty, I've tried answering like 1223141 times, but nothing I ever wrote seemed right.
I honestly suck at giving advice, but I'll tell you how I go about slowing down the romance in my stories.
First, I usually decide how I want their relationship to begin and how I want it to end. Do I want them to hate each other and then gradually fall for each other, or do I want their relationship to start off well? Or somewhere in between, maybe? Will they be together in the end, or will something keep them apart?
After deciding that, I work on a chapter-by-chapter basis to slowly adjust their relationship. If they hate each other in the beginning, they somehow have to work their way to the acquaintance, friendship, crush, and then romance levels. I work with the events in the story to help their relationship grow. I make things happen to the characters to bring them closer together (for example, one character helps the other despite their rocky relationship). If it feels like the right time to nudge them closer together, I will. If it feels too rushed, I'll wait a bit longer.
I also take into consideration who my characters are. Are they the type of person to realize romantic feelings quickly, or are they the type to deny, deny, deny, despite the fact that the answer is right in front of them?
