thanks a lot for your help!I really appreciate it bc I've been struggling with my choice of profession for a while and I start college next August and it's my dream to become a published author but I also think a lot of my family's well being and my dream almost always comes second compared to them

just do what you think is right. while it is important to think of your family, this is your life and you should enjoy what you do with it; on the other hand, if you're really concerned about the money risks, you can go to college for something else and still become an author (: you can be an author on the side, if you want.

I see what you mean:) and what about the cost of college? Someone made a point to me about how expensive college is (even with a scholarship) and that with spending all that money you would want to choose a profession that will help you make a living for sure and pay back possibly?

That's a good point too, but I'd rather have a money problem than a job that makes me unhappy, just so I can pay back the money I spent getting an education. My mom has always said that she'd rather have a job with crappy pay that makes her happy than a job with great pay that makes her miserable--I've grown up with this concept, and I believe in it wholeheartedly. While I agree that striving for a profession that has a lot to do with luck and timing (so I've heard) leads to risk of money problems in the future, I don't care enough to go searching for a different profession altogether. (: If things get tough, I'll get a second job.
I just want to live life happy, haha c: and writing is the way to do that (for me).

hi, Ashely:) I saw you talking to Chloe about doing a CW major and I had thought about it as well but getting published is not sure and a being a writer is a risky sole profession. I was wondering what your thoughts on a CW major and a career as a writer were since you want to pursue that?

I know that it's risky, but, honestly, it's the only thing I can see myself doing with my life. A CW major is the only major for me because creative writing is one of the only things I can say I'm passionate about. My whole life, being an author has been my goal. So the risks are nothing but possible obstacles that I will deal with if or when I reach them.
And, if writing isn't enough to pay the bills and whatnot, then I'll just get a second job.
For me, the risks are worth taking because writing is my life. (:

Who is your favorite Star Wars character?

The last thing I remember about Star Wars was the fact that we brought in the back seat from the mini van and used it as like movie theater seats, and this character had no arms and he was like burning or something was burning and he was screaming.
