What heritage are you? I’m not talking about the country you live in, like — where’s your mom and dad from?

My mom and dad were both born in America, as were my grandparents. My grandmother points out that we have Irish in us, so that's basically all I know.
I knew specific family members on the tree that I'm related to, but other than that -shrugs-

Hi Ashley! You are such a huge inspiration to me. I absolutely adore your writing which is why I was wondering whether you could give me some tips on writing that have worked for YOU? That have helped you develop as a writer? I'm sure you started off somewhere too, right? Thank you so much! :)

Hello anon! I am so sorry for taking almost two weeks to answer this. O:
As for tips that have helped me develop as a writer:
- Do not fall in love with your first draft. There will always be issues with it that will have to be fixed.
- RESEARCH. I made the mistake of skipping this part, and it's safe to say that I have learned my lesson.
- World building is a fun and crucial thing. It doesn't matter if you're building a realistic fiction world or a fantasy world. There are still aspects of your world that must be built (watch katytastic vids if you need help with this--honestly just watch all of her writing vids they're beautiful things).
- Find a planning method that works for you and the story you're writing. Are you a pantser or a full-out planner? Or are you somewhere in the middle? This will probably change with each story you write; at least, that's how it works for me.
- Use italics as needed, but try not to overdue it (I was, for a lack of better words, an italics whore at one point xD).
- Try to make distinct differences in your characters! They can have similarities, but make sure that there are attributes that make them different as well.
- Also, 3D characters are the best characters. Give them personalities, flaws, weird fetishes, things that make them THEM.
- READ. READ. READ.
- WRITE. WRITE. WRITE.

If everyone had copyrights on their work no matter what, why do people steal their ideas and reuse them without saying so? Do you think they have the right to do that?

I can't say for sure why people do what they do--and I can't speak from their point of view, due to the fact that I've never stolen someone else's work before (nor do I plan on it). But I can say that it appears as though they want the same feedback and adoration, but they don't want to put in any effort.
No, they most definitely do not have the right to do that. The real owner of the idea has worked extremely hard, and they don't deserve to have it stolen from them. It's disrespectful--not to mention illegal.

honestly I spend most of my time flicking between the newsfeed and my profile, and I freaking hate looking at my profile right now, so I have a feeling if they don't adjust the profile to make them more user friendly/nice to look at, I'm going to be spending way less time on the site.

I'm ticked, tbh.
I didn't click the "switch now" button for a reason.
Every time I click on my profile I get gradually angrier.
Like no.
Give me my old profile back.

I mean I get the fact that change is nice, but WHY SO DRASTIC.
I saw your message to Trish about how they changed your profile too :/ It wouldn't change back for me either when I tried switching my user. I panicked when it didn't, and I didn't want to stay with the new user for too long bc I'm so terrified that someone will take the user while I'm sitting there waiting for the old profile. With my luck, that would happen.
SPARKY THIS WHOLE THING JUST MAKES ME ANGRY AND SAD.

I probably would forgive them, to be honest. Life is too short to hold grudges.
