I went through a self-publishing company called kidpub (kidpub.com)! It wasn't that complicated of a process at all. We purchased a package that cost $299.00, which included printing copies, editing, making a cover, and formatting (it might have included something else but I don't remember). After we purchased that, all I had to do was send in my finished manuscript, and they checked it over for any errors. Then they sent it back for my approval. Once I finally approved, they formatted the book and sent me the formatted book for approval. When I approved of that, they moved on to the covers. You have two choices when it comes to the covers. You can either take pictures yourself, or you can ask them to make the covers for you. I chose the first option.

After your book is published, you have the opportunity to purchase some of your books--the first shipment comes with free shipping, but after that, you have to pay for shipping along with the books. A royalty check is sent every three months. I can't quite remember what percentage you get for each book depending on where it's purchased (amazon, kidpub, etc).

As for if I've made any profit: Yes. I don't really know how much, because I don't really pay attention (I'm more like, woo! I got paid! Cool!), but my mother has assured me I've made a profit (literally I just looked over at her and asked her if I've made a profit xD).

Kidpub is a good company to go through, and I would recommend it. There's only one problem we had with them: they took a long time to respond to our emails and that lengthened the process. However, other than that, I have no complaints!
