Were you bullied as a child? If so, how did you deal with it?

No, not really. There were a couple of isolated things, like a group of snotty girls stole my mittens and flushed them in the school bathroom. I think it was my reaction that made that the last time it happened, because I shrugged and walked away. I hated those damn mittens, they were green, and they didn't match my pink coat. So, they did me a favor.
I do sort of believe that bullies live for your reaction. If you don't give them the drama they want, they will go find someone who does and who will cry hysterically and write about it all over their Facebook wall.

Do you agree that: people are only as evil as they are allowed to be and only as good as they are forced to be?

No, I think people can be incredibly selfless and good without being forced to be. There are so many examples of people who do extraordinary things to help out others. Charities, donations to natural disasters like Haiti. And look at Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. There were lots of people from all states who went down to help. I know of some doctors locally that went down there, lots of men who brought their tools to help rebuild, people donating for the children.
When a natural disaster happens, or something like 9/11, it brings out the best in the rest of us, who say "there but for the grace of God go I".

Why do people accuse President Obama of being a socialist, when he's a conservative Democrat? Is this propaganda created by the right?

ThomasGWS’s Profile PhotoThomas
Obamacare and free cell phones for the poor? There is propaganda on either side, I think. For any politician, you can pick and choose something from their term in office to point to and say, "this shows that they are a ___". (insert political party and not a dirty word. lol)

Has JLR left you alone now?

Yes. A couple of months ago, we gave each other a BA and that was a sort of closure. The thing is, I really miss "her" sometimes. I don't think you can talk to someone for hours and hours every day without becoming very emotionally invested in them. So it was like a death when everything was found out, and I really did mourn "Jamie". If only he had just stopped at being a girl, and not done the whole cancer thing and all the other drama. I could have handled that.
I dearly love Misty, and she's a he. I respect her so much because she's so open and honest about it on GS. If someone asks for gender, she puts M 2 F trans. She helped me a lot, sort out the Jamie thing in my head.

Have you ever witnessed a man or a woman physically abusing their significant other? If so, what did you do?

ThomasGWS’s Profile PhotoThomas
Not significant others, no. I've never seen two adults swinging at each other.
But when I was in high school, one of my besties was being regularly raped by her step-father. It had been going on for 4-5 years, (since she was 10) when she finally told me about it. I called the police, and they did go to the house, but the step-father answered the door and said the call was a hoax and the cops left.
So then I went over to her house and tried to convince her to come home with me, which ended up in a very dangerous show-down between her, her step-father and me. Her mother cowered in the kitchen; she had known about it the whole time. It was very sad.
You know the worst part? I caught up with her recently, and she has a little boy. She lets her mother babysit her little boy every day, and the step-father is still in the house. I don't understand these things. :(

If you and I were to meet in real life, would you willingly go mall hopping with me from dusk to dawn until our feet were so sore we could barely walk from all of the shopping we would do?

ThomasGWS’s Profile PhotoThomas
I'm not a huge shopper, a few hours is my max. So I'd go with you for a while, but I'd start to get whiny and tantrum-ish after 3 hours or so. But if we stop at a bar, I could possibly be bribed into another hour or so of shopping. :)

Earlier this week, I asked most of you a question about what you would do if you accidentally walked into a feminist rally that turned violent. Almost all of you assumed it was the feminists that were violent and not the opposition. Why do you think that is? :p

ThomasGWS’s Profile PhotoThomas
My answer remains the same whether it was men who were violent or women who were violent. And my answer was run the other way as quickly as possible! A "rally turned violent" no matter what the cause, is not something I'm willing to dive into.

Yes. But, the House Hunters International version features obnoxious Americans (usually) visiting all corners of the world and demanding, usually in a rather snooty manner, that the home they purchase be as big and have all the amenities as the one in the boring suburb from which they came.

JessePinkmanGS’s Profile PhotoGrackles Know Your Real Name
Ah, I see. I missed the "International" part. It's a shame most of the world gets their opinions of Americans from television. Jersey Shore, Jerry Springer and HHI is not really representative of us....or is it? *hangs head in shame*

What is the least manly/womanly show you watch on television? I do like House Hunters International on HGTV. If you ever want to know why non-Americans often find us so insufferably obnoxious, just watch it. You will be curious no longer.

Is House Hunters the one which shows a couple picking from 3 different homes to buy? I like that too, but I read somewhere that before it's even filmed, the couple has already picked out the home, so they have to recreate all the reactions. "oooh, look, it's got granite countertops".
The least womanly show I watch? I've watched StormChasers a couple of times, and Storage Wars. (the one where they auction off a storage unit). And who doesn't love To Catch a Predator? lol

Who on GS, excluding all the irrelevant trolls, and unimportant and ineffective level 1 users with no avatar, would you least like to meet? I ask you this question because you give me the impression that you like meeting people.

I do like meeting people. But "GS people" aren't the same as "regular people".
There's a whole list I could put here, but I'm afraid to. What if I hurt someone's feelings by accident? Some are just jerks and I don't care (like The Man) but some are creepy and they don't even know they're creepy.
Hi Boss

Do you respect the elders? From your perspective is old age alone enough to make someone an "elder"? Or should it be a combination of age, wisdom, knowledge and experiences? What is your definition of an elder?

I like old people. I love to listen to them talk about the way things used to be. I'm interested in people who have lived through historic times, and have first hand knowledge of things. I think pretty much anyone over the age of 70 has something to teach us through their experiences.
Plus, my nana gives me homemade fudge if I listen to her. xoxox
