Are you Christian?

I am spiritual and believe in God. The problem with American Christianity is that it is often the antithesis of what Jesus would say or do. As a middle Eastern man, Jesus would not be behind white supremacy. Jesus was an immigrant. He would want us to be respectful of the environment. He said to feed/clothe/house the poor, so would have encouraged social welfare programs, not purposefully vote against them. He said to love our fellow man, which doesn’t include hate and judgement towards gay/trans people. I think if Jesus was asked to choose between the right to own automatic weapons vs the lives of school children, it would be a clear choice for children. I don’t think he would encourage vulnerable people to send their money to mega pastors to use it to buy themselves mansions and private planes in the name of Christianity. Or to politicians to line their own pockets. “Christian” is often used as a label to feel superior to other people, that others will suffer eternal damnation if they don’t feel the same, or even if they live in a part of the world where they never even heard of Christianity, somehow they are still destined to go to hell. If the core of a religion is based on fear, and that’s how it controls people (fear of hell), then it’s become toxic. I think people should mind their own business, stop trying to recruit others, stop judging others and being un-Christlike to marginalized groups. Most of all, stop trying to control others: gays, minorities, women, etc. We should all just try to be good people, respect each other’s differences, and get along. Sorry for the rant lol
