The woman went back into the house with a gun. That is a clear threat to the occupant of the house. That falls into the castle doctrine of self defense. If someone went out to get a gun and come back in, I'd defend myself in any means possible.

Yeah, it's in Detroit. Why do people keep saying it's dangerous? It isn't as bad as people are making it out to be, from the things I've read, but I guess I'll find out for myself when I go there.
There are many run down areas of Detroit. Manufacturing decayed over the last couple decades and took a big hit during the recession. This left many people out of work. People out of work are more likely to get into trouble. I've been to that area about 3-4 times. The northern burbs are decent. I did once venture into the inner downtown area which had a vibrant nightlife (someone else drove me there). You'll be able to tell if you are in a bad area by the condition of the surrounding homes/businesses. Many houses were abandoned and are full of squatters (mostly homeless or druggies).
If you have time for sight seeing, I highly recommend the Henry Ford Dearborn museum. It is more than just cars and is huge. Well worth a visit.

I don't bump heads with other people. And once can take a selfie with another and still keep the heads a couple inches apart. I took maybe two "selfies" with someone else probably twice in 2013.

On to your Q...perhaps to us yanks, the English actor seems so serious and dramatic. To be a realistic and threatening villain, one needs to portray a serious badass. Someone bad enough to pose a real threat to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Don't forget one of the biggest Hollywood good guys is British...Bond, James Bond.
There is also another scenario. We in the US want the villains to speak good English which can be understood onscreen. We also want the villain to be "different" than a typical US citizen. That leaves either an Aussie or Englishman.

That is ridiculous. There are 3 slices too many! That must be two full packs of bacon. And a gun on the side? Like we get up in the morning and bring a gun to the breakfast table. Is that a Sig? I can't tell for sure, but it does appear to be a hammer fired pistol.
