Have you made your sunscreen debut? If not, when do you usually? ☀️

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
No. I don’t spend much time in the prime sun intensity during the day. I’ll take advantage of things like an umbrella at a sidewalk cafe or similar.

I’m borrowing this from the general feed to share this…
Here is a recent adventure…
I was at an undisclosed town in another state celebrating a birthday with a long term friend. We booked rooms at a hotel. By about 9 p.m. we were done and took rideshare to the hotel. The lady driving said it was her last run.
At the hotel, I tell my friend “Let’s have a beer outside. See you at the front in 10 min.”
In my room, I was emptying my pockets and…NO PHONE. Mild panic set in. I knew I had my phone in the rideshare car. My friend gave me his phone, and I started to login to Find my iPhone (nobody answered it when calling). Luckily, I remembered my password and it pinged. I drove, he navigated. There was no street address, just some cross streets. I used my vehicle nav to drive to the area. Finally, he says “It is on this street on the next block.” I drove slowly, and there it was: The black VW we rode in. I stopped and said “I hope that house is the driver’s.” I gave him my keys in case I would be shot by the resident so he could get away.
There was a person on a couch. I knocked and asked for “Jane.” She was the driver. We went out to her car, opened the back door. There was my phone making a noise stuck in the seat belt. My friend had activated it to alarm mode. I gave her $50 for her inconvenience.
This is something that a good friend of 30 + yrs would do. Risk getting shot in the ‘hood to help me find my phone.
Back at the hotel, we drank our beer by the AC unit outside laughing our heads off.

Say you were gonna sleep at a place with no beds, what would you bring to make yourself comfortable? 🛏️🚫

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
Is it the same place as @GlindaBells
Well, I would bring a cardboard box about the size to hold a toaster oven. When she finished setting up her airbed, I would briefly go outside then come back in frantically saying “oh my, someone just abandoned a box of kittens outside.” After she rushes outside to an empty box, I would plant myself on her airbed.
I’m too heavy for her to remove me from the bed.

Er, Neo, if you want to get married you don't have to go to SE Asia to find a wife. There are a lot of nice girls in America itself. You should look closer to home, for sure. Being feral isn't for everyone...

You traveled across the globe to the US with a dream of finding your “American Woman.” How has that worked out?

About a month ago I happened to see multiple episodes of Trafficked with Mariana Van Zeller running on a Sat afternoon. It seems NatGeo added 1 word (Underworlds) and called it a “new” show at season 1. My DVR did not catch it. Caught up with it over a weekend with the on-demand library.

Is spring kicking into high gear where you live? How's that making you feel? 🌻🌿

It is allergy season. I think it is a specific tree pollen, but not sure which. About another 4 weeks and the worst will be over for me.

Out of a sense of morbid curiosity just how many friends did you have 15-20 years ago? I swear, I've never seen someone reconnect with this many friends after so many years, lol!

I really can’t give you a finite number. I’ve come across many people in my life with whom I’ve had an interaction more than just a “Hello” in passing. Most are US based people, some are international. Due to my life choices in my education and professions, I’ve lived in several US states. My business travel has added to my interactions. Some people I keep regular contact with, and others not so much. Now because of the socials, one can know where friends and acquaintances live.
If I’m going to in a particular city for work or leisure with some available personal time, I will reach out to a person from my past. Even if there has not been steady contact through the years, I would estimate over 80% are willing to meetup for maybe a lunch or supper.
Making connections and reconnecting with people enriches my life as it does with many.
You’ve lived on 2 continents to include 3-4 (more?) US states. How many connections have you made? If there is nobody from your past you want to see again, why is that?

If you were thrown into a professional kitchen and were expected to cook, do you think you'd be able to keep up? 🔪🔥(Inspired by this year's student musical I was part of)

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
Imagine the pro kitchen is a tree in a jungle. The pace of activity is that of a monkey swinging freely across the branches.
I am the 3 toed sloth in the tree.

I have a wedding to attend last weekend of May in Lake Tahoe Nevada area. Will also be able to reconnect with a friend I haven’t seen in 20+ years.
End of June is a trip to Savannah, Georgia
Also a usual July trip to see family.
Might go to a baseball game to see Cincinnati Reds.

What’s the real reason why people bully people?

theartist58910’s Profile Photothe artist
There is often more than just a single reason. Some were bullied when young. Some are insecure. Some are just bad people.

My boyfriend is giving me the silent treatment how do I get him to stop ignoring me

Different options:
In a firm tone of voice: What in the f*** is wrong with you?
In a calm voice: What have you been up to lately?
No voice: Don’t try to alter his mood. Go about your activities. Don’t communicate with him.
