Does penance make you feel better?

Yes, there certainly is a psychological benefit to me for trying to make reparation for the ill that one has done.
I find confessing my sins also on psychological level, never mind the spiritual level, really helps to heal those sins.

What are your plans for new years day? do you have a big celebratory meal?

I do not have any plans for New Year's Day apart from Mass of course and lunch with my parents. We are not planning anything big.

I think I'm going to give myself some penance for wrong doing, I think it will make me feel better but i don't know what to do. Does the penance have to fit the crime?

The penance should fit the crime yes. It is advisable with penances to put oneself under the direction of someone else. A priest is ideal as he is practiced in the matter of directing souls but it could be someone else whose judgment you respect.
By having someone direct your penance it can prevent you from falling into a trap of taking pride in one's penance. If one takes pride in one's penance this can lead one to despise others and to push oneself too far and harm one's health or perhaps one's own legitimate interests or the interests of others. This sin can lead one to a place where one is worse off than when one started.

What is penance? is it like, punishing yourself? If so, I like the sound of that how and why do you punish yourself?

Penance is a form of punishment of oneself, yes. It is done to make reparation for one's sins.
A common form of penance is fasting which I undertake only in a very mild way by abstaining from meat on Fridays. Catholics are obliged to perform some penance on every Friday.
Other forms of penance which I undertake are to say some extra prayers.
As you can see these are really very mild penances.

Do you take any medication for your anxiety or do you find other ways to cope with it?

I am not taking medication for my anxieties and am finding other ways to cope with them. Prayers is really a key part of this. I try exercise and be sociable and to keep busy too I suppose.

Those pencils look lovely.. almost too nice to use! Do you draw much?

:-) No, I am not drawing that much at all. I did a lot of sketching while I was studying architecture and some while working but that is years ago now. For a long time I have done little drawing and often only draw to make birthday cards.

How is you schizophrenia controlled without medication? Do you take any vitamin supplements?

I am not sure that I have schizophrenia - I would say really that I don't.
I am not eating anything special in my diet. I do try to think of eating all food groups and different foods with vitamins and minerals which might otherwise be lacking from my diet. When I eat my mom's food I really get all of these things as she is quite health conscious.

Do you thin God is in any way responsible for your mental health difficulties? Did God bestow this illness on you or are you just unlucky ? x

I think the mental health problems that I have had are partly brought on by stressful situations and my own bad attitudes to things, by pride and vanity and being too uptight. I think too, of course, that there is a certain weakness in my mental makeup.
Certainly all things come form God and all things work to the good of those who love God. So the circumstances that I am in are really the best possible for me to draw close to God. I have to make use of them though.

Sum up the past five years of your life in a single paragraph.

It has been quite a topsy turvy time. It started with almost 1,5 years in jail in the States standing trial for charges that were fortunately dropped in the end. Though difficult this was a good experience in many ways and taught me above all not to judge others. The remain 3,5 years I have spent largely dealing with anxieties that I have had which were aggravated to some extent by my time in jail. I can say that it has largely been a battle with myself. Through all these difficulties there have been two great pillars of support for me God and his Church and my parents.

How has your 2016 been? What other things would you like to accomplish before the new year rolls round?

I have not done that much at all this year but it has still been a good year. I am thankful to God for my faith. I have been happy to attend Mass nearly everyday and to pray the rosary regularly. I am very happy to repaired my relationship with my parents to quite a large degree and to have been able to conquer some of the fears that have been besetting me. I am very grateful for the new friendships that I have made and for the friendships that have grown during this year. And as a friend said for the people that I have met. It has also been really nice to find groups in the local Catholic Church who are excited about growing closer to God and who are practicing their faith and to become part of these groups even if only a small way. I am also grateful for the progress I have made in growing in purity though there is much still to be done!
As for plans of what I hope to achieve before New Year's - I hope to buy a pair of shoes and to help a friend a little with her computer.

How old were you when you were diagnosed with having schizophrenia?

At age 28 or so the doctors seemed to settle on the diagnosis that I had undergone a schizophrenic episode.

Do you think your health problems are what are stopping you living the life you want to e.g. becoming a monk?

I certainly think that they are a factor.

How are things going with your medication? Do you have any negative side effects?

I am fortunately not taking any medication.

Have you ever spent a whole day in the gnewd?

No. Is there a problem with the word nude? Or did you mean something else?

If you wanted to right now could you sneak out of your house?

I don't think I would have to sneak out I could simply walk out...

Does your house have a front porch?

I stay in a small cottage which has a semblance of a front porch though it faces a swimming pool. My folks' house where I am now does not have a front porch.

can i confess a sin to you?

Yes of course you can but I cannot forgive you your sins. I am a sinner too and not a Catholic priest but I will pray for you. I am praying for you now. God bless you!

I've done something bad and now I am worried god will hate me. How can I get his forgiveness ;(

God does not hate you nor will God ever hate you no matter what bad you have done no matter how blatant and no matter how often and even if you start all over and repeat it again and again. God can only love you. God is love.
You need to open yourself to that love or that love will be the thing that drives you from him.
Turn to God, say that you are sorry and head off as hard as you can along the way that he wants. Should you fall start again and even if you have not fallen today start again tomorrow for that is how we can get to him.
God bless you and lots and lots of prayers.

Did you get any chocolates for christmas?

Yes, some very sweet but quite lovely Belgium chocolates and some toffee chocolates from the States.

Are you still eating christmas food?

No we polished that off a while ago. We are already into the New Year goodies. Let us spare a thought for all those who have very little extra during these times!

It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.

Yes, so will it be when Our Lord comes again. May he find us watchful in prayer.

have you ever been talking to someone on line, only to find out they were a cat fish? I have and it sucks.

Yikes, half the time I think I am dealing with catfish! Catfish are people too. :-)
