Speaking of immortality, a book than also impacted me was Peter Pan.
He's such a strange and complex character. This child who believed that by never growing up, he will never have to face any problems. But this essentially taught us that you cannot be a child forever. Peter Pan was a lunatic, he had 0 sense of safety and he thought anything remotely dangerous was hilarious. Meaning, by never growing up, he thought he was inmortal.
Then we have Captain Hook. The infamous Captain Hook. In complete honesty, I believe he is the one that represents immortality in the book. He is in his prime, has a rational mind, and he is controlling a pirate ship that children fear. He has nothing to worry about except a crocodile who has an unhealthy obsession with him and that it keeps reminding him that his time is running out.
