What to do when someone is courting you? Say, you've been single for years, have high standards and want a bf/gf but when there's someone, you push them away. Another person said, it's better to say "yes" already to the person courting and there you'll know if the guy is okay. Agree? Any thoughts?

I am a very strong believer in knowing who the hell I am getting married to, ya know? As flattered as I am, I woukd want to get to know the person better before making any sort of decision. I don't like it when people recommend potential partners for me. I mean thank you, but I am capable of doing it myself.

A 10 foot rope ladder hangs over the side of a boat with the bottom rung on the surface of the water. The rungs are one foot apart, and the tide goes up at the rate of 6 inches per hour. How long will it be until three rungs are covered?

CuriousandQuestioning’s Profile PhotoCuriously Wonder
I reread this question about 6 times. The answer is never you cheeky bugger. The boat rises with the tide, only the bottom rung would be covered.

What is one thing about the opposite (or any other) gender that confuses you the most?

High school boys who think that by calling me a "hoe" or wolf whistling is going to somehow make me fall in love with you. All you're gonna get is a black eye, asshole.

How are you now?

I am much better now Anon :). My grandfather only goes to the hospital for check ups and the doctors are saying his progress is nothing to worry about. :D

What's the point of learning anything if you're going to forget it sooner or later? Of course, the question neglects the knowledge you're constantly reminded with or the actions you cannot forget like driving a bicycle.

amrokasha76’s Profile PhotoAmr Okasha
Your brain never truly forgets. You will find yourself remembering facts you read 5 years ago during a conversation abot that topic. Learning is about enriching your mind, about not living in total oblivion.
But to answer the question more clearly, there isn't a point. You need to learn what is important to you so you don't forget. Otherwise, you'd be using up valuable brain space.
Thank you for the question, Amr. :D

Why do people wear clothes of their favourite bands, tv shows etc as if they composed them? Can't people keep their likes to themselves?

To show support, Anon. And in hopes of connecting with others in the community with the same interests.

Why do we often give so much of ourselves to some people whom we think are our friends, and yet they won’t even think twice about us?

AhmadBakheitMndo’s Profile Photo∆HMED
I believe that humans are naturally social creatures. When met with a fellow specimen who hates us, our brains get confused as to why that is. So, we try to gain the other person's affection.
We are kind too. But the thing with humans is that we are more complex than the other species. Our brains are more developed. Here the questions rises of "Are humans naturally goid or bad?"

how forgiving are you?

nurbzee’s Profile Photonurulhuda
It depends on how much the situation has affected me. If it was something minor, I forgive instantly and give a warning, mostly because I hate unnecessary problems.
However, if it was something major, it depends on the person. I would talk to them, hear their side, and then make a decision. Though usually, I still forgive. That doesn't mean I trust that person like I used to.
So I would call myself fair. :)

If you bottle up your emotions, does that make you a strong or a weak person? Why?

AhmadBakheitMndo’s Profile Photo∆HMED
It depends on the situation and the emotion in said situation.
For example: trying really hard not to laugh when another person is mad at you is considered being "strong." (I don't know how many times I was faced with this)
However, I am going to go ahead and assume you mean negative emotions. Again, I think it depends on your situation.
Experience is unique to every individual.
Personally, if you are bottling up your emotions, say at a funeral of a loved one so you can be "strong" for someone else; I would call that being strong. However, and I am being hypocritical when I say this, but bottling up anything for too long is never good. Never.
Unchecked sadness can lead to depression.
Unchecked anger can lead to so many communication problems that will eventually lead to unchecked sadness.
Let. It. Out.
So, in summary:
In the moment, it makes you strong, but keep in for too long and it will make you weak.

Hey, i'm sorry it's been a while, it wasn't until two days ago that i was done with my exams, how is your grandfather now? did they find out what's wrong with him? and how are you? i really hope you're alright

Wha.... Anon you're unbelievably kind. :'D
My grandfather is much better now الحمد لله. He had a surgery maybe 2 days ago to put some time of battery/pacer in his heart because his blood pressure was really low as well as his heartbeat. He is still in the ICU, they should take him to a "normal" room in the next few days.
I have been told he is going to stay in the hospital for physiotherapy sessions because, initially, he was confined to a bed for a week the first time he went to the hospital and he was taken out right away. That could've caused the dizziness and such.
And I am alright, Anon. I am relieved he is responding to the treatments and still beating my sorry butt in chess. :')

I feel weird after complimenting a girl on her appearance, Rana. I feel sleazy.

Oh no, the confessions are back...
What did you say exactly, Anon? Tell me what happened. You're lucky I am feeling empathetic today. :)

Which would be more difficult: a cure for a zombie infection or a vaccine for zombie infection?

Definitely a cure. The zombie is an undead being. Do you know how difficult it is to cure something that died then came back to life?

How do you deal with the lame haters?

OK, I would like to add something to the question of "what word or phrase do you hate the most."
"Fuck the haters" - whenever I read or think about this statement, I always picture this 12 year old white boy who wants to black and his parents trying to educate him and says those three idiotic words. A little vivid, but that's the only thing that registers.
Any type of generalisation ever made - Do I even have to say why this is stupid?
"How is the weather up there?/ Do you play basketball" -Ha. Ha. Ha. Yes I am tall. Ha. You're so funny. Ha. I don't even like basketball. Ha. (I am 180 cm, which is not that tall really)
