Have you ever loved someone who you wanted to spend the rest of your life with but were unable to?

"Somewhere In Time"
Author: Richard Mattheson, Character: Elise McKenna, Actress: Jane Seymour
The man of my dreams is almost faded now. The one I have created in my mind. The sort of man each woman dreams of in the deepest most secret reaches of her heart. I can almost see him now before me. What would I say to him, if he were really here? Forgive me, I’ve never known this feeling. I’ve lived without it all my life. Is it any wonder then I fail to recognize you? You brought it to me for the first time. Is there anyway that I can tell you how my life has changed. Anyway at all, to let you know what sweetness you have given me. There is so much to say and I can’t find the words except for these: I love you. That is what I say to him if he were really here.

Who is your favorite author? A book of your author favorite that you recommend me?

I don’t really have a favourite author, but I love J.R.R. Tolkien’s work, especially The Hobbit.
I also like J.K. Rowlings writing style and I really enjoyed the way Diney Costeloe writes.
Diney Costeloe has written multiple books about war and they’re very intriguing. I was completely moved by the story ‘The Sisters of St Croix’. I recommend reading this book.

Recommend me some good books!!

1-The Paradox Of Choice: It shows hows you how today’s vast amount of choice makes you frustrated, less likely to choose, more likely to mess up, and less happy overall, before giving you concrete strategies and tips to ease the burden of decision-making.
2- The one Thing: (a) Not everything matters equally, (b) Multitasking is a lie. (c) Discipline is a result of habit. (d) Willpower is a finite resource. (e) Big is bad

3- Meet Your Happy Chemicals: Know what happiness is actually. A MUST READ.
4-Unlearn: Discard old beliefs or approaches that are no more working and replace them with new ones
5-Grit:Talent + effort = skill. And skill x effort = achievement. Effort counts twice — it builds skill and it makes skills productive
6- A Long Walk to freedom: An autobiography of Nelson Mandela, detailing his ascent from an anti-apartheid activist and Robben Island-jailed terrorist, to ANC leader and a cultural icon.
7-Atomic habits: In this book author explains how small small changes can give huge results over time and habits are not formed overnight but develops gradually
These are books i have read and found worth sharing.

I don’t think I have a specific favorite one, I love J. K. Rowling, John Green, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jane Austen, J. R. R. Tolkien, Rainbow Rowell and many many others, these are just the ones I could think of off the top of my head right now.
I generally read for any author as long as the book piques my interest.

When you were a young teen, what did you imagine you would be doing by the age you are now at? And have you ended up matching any of it?

LouisaRHale’s Profile PhotoLou
🚀 As a young teen I wanted so much to be an author of paperback science-fiction. As I got older more and more adults discouraged me as attempting to make a career out of it. By the time I was doing my O Levels, 16+, and CSEs at school (now GCSEs) I was at a loss as what job I was going to do when I left school.
✍️ If only Creative Writing courses and degrees were available then! (If they were, nobody pointed me in that direction, but I don’t think they became a ‘thing’ until many years later.)
📚 Anyhow I wrote about 22 unpublished novels, plus a plethora of short stories and some Roleplaying games and FightingFantasy-style game-books over the years without seeing anything published other than a few niche magazine articles here and there.
🐺 But eventually WildWolf accepted an ebook anthology of short fiction, so I did finally get *something* published in the end!

If smarts or talent wasn’t an obstacle, what would be your dream job? I’d love to be a best selling author.

GlindaBells’s Profile PhotoGlinda
I’m of the opinion that to earnestly declare oneself a writer is a step away from becoming a published author. No, it hasn’t worked for me thus far, but the point still stands…
My dream parallels yours, and while I do concede that writing is an incredibly difficult craft to market (and not merely a difficult craft in itself), the value of your work really does depend on your own estimation of it. There was a time when I wondered if I possess the talent to write fiction – which is really to say: do I possess the ability to entertain readers? – but nowadays my energy is spent more on wondering if I possess the ability to put in the seemingly gargantuan effort it takes to produce something I deem worthy of marketing. Thus, nowadays I’m concerned mostly with developing the motivation to put pen to paper, as it were, of going through the actual process of presenting my work to prospective publishers, of dealing with all the rejections and the ’helpful critiques’; the suggestions such as “we would like your dystopian sci-fi novel down to 500 words”, and all other such internal, technical communications and means of marketing.
It’s an old cliche, but I do sincerely believe that self-belief aided by the reliably impervious shield of good, old-fashioned stoicism really is the optimal method here. And although your work may or may not be the best, it is, nevertheless, better than some, and you could safely assume that it is infinitely better than that which is *not* written (or recorded, painted, programmed, sculpted, crafted, or whichever creative outlet may apply to you, dear reader).

What dreams did you have when you were a teenager?

I wanted to be an author, I wanted to move out of my parents' house and away from my dad, I wanted to have a dog, I wanted to meet someone who loved me for me and would keep me safe, and I wanted to have a family.

Like nothing sounds good to me. I enjoy working with kids, but it's not like a dream to me. Kind of weird how I went from dreaming of everything to not having one at all lol

Seen a lot of talk about 'love language' and wondered what you consider yours to be? (The term love language refers tothe way that a person prefers to express love to and receive it from a partner. It is now often used generally to refer to many different methods of expressing love)

LouisaRHale’s Profile PhotoLou
I beg to differ on having to compartmentalize love in just 5 ways. Out of curiosity I did the test and my test scores were equally distributed (give or take). Not everyone wants to get a gift, just because their language is ‘receiving gifts’ , at times they might just want an affirmative statement. For me love doesn’t have boundaries and one must go all the way out to do things that they derive happiness from doing for their partner. The language of love or the feeling of love is the greatest power and occurrence in the whole universe.
To some people ‘love' is just a feeling found among couples. But the fact is that love exists among every two people who are socially or emotionally attached to each other. Be it brother and sister, brother and brother, sister and sister, parents and children, among friends and so on. That is becoz without the feeling of love, no two persons can bind with each other. Now a sudden thought might be running in your mind, whether there is love among enemies? Well I would say that there is love among enemies too. Infact, the more enemical you are the more love would there be, becoz you think about your enemies even more than you think about your friends. No matter what you are doing, you may for once forget your friends, but never your enemies. Coming to the point, love is a feeling where you care about someone, you have a place for them in your life, you can understand their emotions, their feelings, when you think that you feel nice with somebody, when you want someone to share thoughts with you, it's all about love. The whole world is filled with love, to be more precise, love is in the air. Wishing you a beautiful and lovely life. Its important to understand what makes your spouse feel loved and what doesn’t. A misfire in this area can make you feel like you’re constantly going above and beyond and they never appreciate it, while they feel that you don’t really see them or recognise their needs.
You don’t need to read the actual Love Languages book or know the theory propounded by the author, but you do need to recognise your spouse’s needs and how they might be different from yours. Now I can tell my wife what she means to me and how much I love her until I'm blue, it won't mean much to her. I can spend a fortune on little gifts with the same result. I can grab her but whenever I walk past her with the same result. But if I spend some quality time with her, she is the happiest person. Gifts, compliments, and sometimes physical touch. Idk why I have these but I feel good whenever I do something nice for someone I love.

Are the questions random because I can’t figure out if people are directly asking me or just throwing it out into the world?

I would say that 99% of the questions are random. One of the characteristics of a well written question is that the reader believes the question was written especially for them. This technique is used by poets, novelists and composers of music, artists, etc. For example, have you ever read a novel or listened to a song or looked at art that for whatever reason captures your imagination and makes you feel like you are part of that story? I have, and that is one of the elements of great writing. The writer makes the reader or the composer makes the listener or the artist makes the person viewing his artwork part of the experience.

It's so annoying when people send random crap on shout-out. I wish people understood that this is a q&a site, not rant.fm or tellstrangersyourpersonalbusiness.fm.

All valid points.
What annoys me are the questions that sound like they were written by a 5 year old when I know the author is probably 16+ years of age and is functionally illiterate.
When I finally leave askfm it will be for that reason. Most of the proficient writers abandoned askfm when they implemented their reporting mechanism and heavy handed censorship. I am hanging on by a thread because I feel that the advice I offer helps young people. But with that said, the questions being submitted lately are horrid and not worth responding to. Here are a few examples:
- What color are your underwear?
- When did you lose your virginity?
- I love you and want to live the rest of my life with you. (and it is broadcast to thousands of people)
- Do you prefer panties or thongs?
Notice that every question I listed does not illuminate, does not educate, does not inform. They are all useless and insulting questions that serve no functional purpose.

Have you ever purchased... A self reflective/positivity book? Would you ever consider it? 🤪✨🤗 There's one by the author Lisa Currie that I'm super inspired by! It lets you write down all your thoughts and doodle!!

I think the closest thing to it, was during a time in my life of great depression. And the book, and a psychologist I was seeing helped me heal. The name of the book was "Happiness is a Choice"

If you were transported 400 years into the past with no clothes or anything else, how would you prove that you were from the future?

I would write a Harry Potter book because I know it very well, so I would definitely do it. I know a few poems and songs, so I would also write songs and poems that I know. They wouldn't know them, so I would be the author of songs that I know are good.
I can cook and I am a confectioner by profession, so I would write recipes that I know.
The knowledge I have, I will use and be an artist, and you might hear about me haha. Finally, if I were famous, I would somehow prove that I am from the future and that I can work for society.
But first, once I figure out where the hell I am, I'd have to find a place to live: D

I have many authors whose fiction I love to read about and wouldn't choose between them 'cause they're all talented. A few of them might be G.R.R. Martin, Stephen King, Monika Feth, Cornelia Funke, Jane Austen, Meg Cabot and many, many more.

are the tests made to make "you feel not normal", or are they designed to explore a topic and see if you fit into it? if the former, if you get "i'm normal / not autistic" does that make you a collective ant, cuz you answered how the test's author wanted you to? lololo. i don't get these tests.

no, it was unbiased. my other roommate took it and got a normal number under 65, meanwhile i got 153. lmaoo.

Why Wokeism? --Part 2--

Why Wokeism? --Part 2--
When Americans think of the Holocaust, we picture strong Nazi thugs beating and murdering helpless Jews. We think thousands of supporters cheering Hitler and goose-stepping in massive parades. Few Americans know that less than twenty years before, most of those Germans saw themselves as helpless and persecuted victims.
A new generation of German scholars are just starting to explain this. One of them is Götz Aly, author of Why the Germans? Why the Jews? Envy, Race Hatred, and the Prehistory of the Holocaust. Aly gives these two short and logical explanations as to what happened.
First, long before Hitler, most Germans embraced a fake view of their history and themselves. Although Germany by 1900 was one of the richest and most powerful countries in the world, most Germans still saw themselves as weak, persecuted, and disrespected. They were obsessed with memories of when their country was too divided to defend itself, and often invaded and occupied by powerful neighbors. They were offended when the Wagner operas they adored were ridiculed by critics in London and Paris.
Second, Götz Aly explained that by the early 1900s, most Germans had thoroughly embraced the socialist ideas of Karl Marx. Aly wrote that this socialism made virtues of the deadly sins of envy and theft. Socialism accepts the premise that if people think they have too little, they have the right to believe that others have too much. Therefore, coveting what others have and using government to steal it are no longer violations of the Ten Commandments. They are instead just demands for “reparations” or “redistribution.”
The TIK History video “National Socialism Was Socialism” makes that same point. According to TIK History, Marxism is but one of many varieties of socialism. However, all socialists to some degree blame a small “unsocialized” group for the problems of their society. They all weaken or eliminate them and steal some or all of their stuff. Some socialists are more extreme than others. Revolutionary France killed its priests and aristocrats in 1792 and took their stuff. Communists in Russia did that to land and business owners in 1919. The Communist regime in China did it after World War II.
According to TIK History, it was politically easier for German “National Socialists” (Nazis) to select Jews rather than all rich business and landowners, as their “unsocialized” group to attack and rob.
These new German scholars show that Hitler’s National Socialists closely followed the course of most socialist and Communist regimes. Everything worked well until they ran out of other people’s money. When Hitler’s National Socialists spent all the money they had robbed from Germany’s Jews, they had to invade and steal from other countries.
