What was your most awkward moment?
WARNING: THIS IS A RANT
a friend of mine (who is also one of the sweetest persons i'd ever seen on and off wattpad) got her book published recently. it was originally posted on wattpad and for copyright reasons, she had to take half of the book down. countless wattpad books have been published and several authors have had to do the same thing she did, but for some fucking reason, some people are so fucking immature they can't fucking wrap their heads around the fact that it was something she HAD to do.
these ungrateful little shits began to flood her message board and inbox with hate messages about how she's being "rude" for taking the chapters down. i've read through every post down her message board and just HOW OLD ARE THESE PEOPLE? they keep attacking her while claiming they "deserve a copy" and that they "wasted their time" by reading the first half (and conveniently missing the part where she said the content was removed at the very start) and god i feel so fucking frustrated that these kinds of people exist.
look, wattpad may be a free site, but an author's work is his or her property. even if an author doesn't get published, he or she has every fucking right to do whatever with his/her work. my friend had to take half her book down out of necessity. she didn't do it to fuck with her readers or to be mean or anything.
just because you, for some fucking reason, managed to miss the warning that said the content is removed and decided to read her work, it doesn't mean you are entitled to the rest of it, nor are you entitled with the right to be an asshole.
i've been on wattpad for nearly five years now and wattpad is a give-and-take site. writers don't get anything from posting their work on the site--nothing but the satisfaction of knowing that somewhere out there, your words are being read by someone--and readers literally just sit there and wait and get a free read on something someone worked hard on. while a lot of people are kind enough to vote and leave comments, there are also people who are not only ungrateful, but are also asses who think writers are obligated to update for them, and that they can be assholes just bc they feel that the writers owe them something for reading their works. they take and take and take and never give (a fuck for what other people feel).
news flash, darlings, but you fucking ingrates are not entitled to anything, and for being haters who can't even bother to spell check your posts, i can happily say "fuck you and fuck off."
