If a horse isnt getting anything else besides grass how much grain should i feed in a day(average working horse)

It really depends on the type and quality of grass they are eating and how much, and the type of grain you're feeding them ? if they are an easy keeper and only in light work they may not need any grain! But a general rule for most horses is their diet should be at least 50% forage, and ideally less than 50% grain. The average horse should eat about 2% of their body weight per day, so for a horse that is 1000 pounds they need about 20 pounds of forage and grain together. If your horse is in light/moderate work they may need as little as 5 pounds of grain and the other 15 in grass or hay. It's probably best to ask a vet or trainer since they will know your horse best though this is probably confusing ?

He gets 8 flakes of hay a day, split into 4 feedings and hi fat feed and beet pulp twice a day.

I think they are good. I think I will probably buy one soon. They just make it so much more comfortable for you and your horse! And it keeps your butt clean lol.

Post good quality photos? Tag them. That's pretty much it. You need to gain a real following of people that actually are interested in the things you post not just f4f.

I don't know I usually don't like wearing shorts either but if it's really hot you could always wear athletic shorts that are looser and usually longer, I usually just wear crop leggings in the summer cause I find them more comfortable than shorts and they're still pretty cool. Also rompers are good cause they're still shorts but usually more flowy. You could also try skirts that cover more of your legs!? I just don't wear shorts very often lol

Well we were introduced to riding by our friends mom who owned a horse when we were like 10 or something. After that we found this really cool barn but they pretty much just did trail rides but all the horses were really awesome and their trails were to die for and you got to cross rivers and it was really fun!!!!! I wouldn't say I've ever wanted to not ride but there have definitely been times where I just want to ride for fun and not jump and just go on trail rides forever!

Dp you think its okay to let a horse eat 2 pounds a grain and graze all day or do u think thats to little food ? Or is it a good amount ?

It really depends on the quality of the grass they are grazing on. If it's mostly weeds and patchy grass and dirt then they will probably need hay as well.

That's fine, it's the people who kept going on and on after we already explained our situation that were annoying. We can all have different opinions on how you should feed your horse. I never knew something so simple as feeding your horse an apple would cause such a discussion lol.
