Have you ever thought of making a list people can use to know what official translations are inaccurate like FUNi's HaruChika?

i would need to be like, an actual translator to do that

Best OP and ED this season?

visually: dimension w, bokumachi
musically (op): grimgar, haruchika, dimension w, assclass s2 (surprisingly, given that s1's ops were ass)
musically (ed): aokana deserves special recognition here as the ed is several tiers of quality above the show itself (animation too for that matter)

Then did you hear about conspiracy theories connecting his firing to NOA's recent localization decisions? Just WTF...

Nope. I think it's pretty clear why he was fired and it's unfortunate but also understandable. You don't speak on the record unless you're authorised PR.

Did you hear about how Chris Pranger got fired from NOA?

I did. It's sad but it can't be helped. Better communication about what employees are allowed to say to the media probably would have gone a long way (unless they were already doing that and he was just oblivious)

Any thoughts on Clyde Mandelin's translations and his Legend of Localizations website?

he is very good and his website is interesting

How do you feel about that Waifu Hunters becoming one of the most popular curators on Steam?

at least they make no pretense at being serious
I'd take them over the ones that single out developers for some kind of perceived wrongdoing any day

Any thoughts on that Censored Gaming channel?

it's stupid because most of what they do is use steam's platform to complain about changes that were required by steam
could replace the entire curator with "PROTIP: don't buy games on Steam that you primarily intend to masturbate to"

What's up with people whining about Atlus not providing the Japanese audio in their games when they're released in the West?

well, I can understand that since the jp audio is usually better, but I can also understand wanting to do an actual good job with the English as your sole track rather than a tacked-on afterthought. so whatever

Did you know about the kid-dying-from-some-disease plot in Sword Art Online II? That was such a terrible attempt to draw sympathy towards a character that many people didn't give a shit about.

I still haven't seen past the calibur arc of s2. one day.

Does shit like Oreimo repulse you? It honestly disturbs me that so many people like this garbage.

it might have once, but I've watched far too much anime now to care

Would you be surprised if these people claiming 'MUN ARTISTIC INTEGRITIEZ" in games went on to bitch about movies? For example, bitching that editing the infamously racist scene in Fantasia would qualify to them as censorship.

not really, but it already happened before their time
anyway, I'm getting a little tired of this subject so I'll probably just delete further questions about "censorship" in localisation unless they're especially interesting

Are people really that afraid that there will be more Japanese games censored in the West after the initial overblown outcry of the Fatal Frame V edits?

I don't know. I think publishers will continue to do whatever they feel will make money for their shareholders.

Why do most "free-speech advocates" tend to be generally awful people?

it's probably not 'most' as much as it is 'the ones you tend to see and hear about', who tend to want free speech as long as it means they and their political allies can get their way.

Do you think companies need to be more transparent when it comes to what's getting changed or retained in localization?

i don't really see why. if you included every little thing most RPGs would require a novel-length report.

Did you hear about why Steven Universe was censored in the UK? It was due to social stigmas about animated TV being for little children.

and i'm not quite sure why little kids aren't allowed to know about gay people

Is it still a controversy if a developer removes something that would qualify as potentially controversial during localization?

apparently, but probably less so than if it was left in the game

I mean, I can wait for your subs, at least until the third OVA comes out and watch them back to back. It's just that your TL has a long backlog that will never get done and I'd rather have an official confirmation if it's going to get dropped. Sorry if I'm harsh or something but yeah.

it will get done, hopefully soon. i haven't said anything about who the TL is, but aria is special

You should do what I'm doing an watch Dagashi Kashi raw while playing a guessing game about how shark is going to translate various lines.

he actually thought you were me because of that question, lol

People are still going to buy Fates regardless of controversy right? It's not like taking out some bits of content is going to cut into sales just like countless other titles that were localized and edited right?

I'm sure they will. I was originally planning not to buy it and I am still planning not to buy it, so it's safe to say the controversy has not shaken my opinion

Imagine taking our energy from whining about localizations and instead putting it to rallying for localizing games like EX Troopers, The Great Ace Attourney and Fate/Extra CCC! Didn't we learn from Operation Rainfall back in 2011?

clearly not

Do you think Fates will just be rebalanced to accommodate the lack of skinship (since it does improve affinity levels)? Or do you feel that it's probably going to be included anyways since only Kotaku reported it and no other major sites did?

I have no idea. I'm not really much of a Fire Emblem player.
