Don't tell me you're on the Lucky Star hate bandwagon.

I didn't mind it too much back in the day, but I can't think of much reason to watch it now.

do you know which should I watch for Lucky Star?

I watched afk back in the day, but they're hardsubbed avis and I have no idea who the best DVD release or whatever would be. You could just not watch Lucky Star.

Thanks for answering my question on the staff behind FFF's Sekai Seifuku release. Doesn't seem like they're batching it anytime soon, which is why I asked :V. Don't suppose you know who the staff was for "Hoozuki no Reitetsu" too?

Didn't watch that one very closely but I think it was deltakei on translation, ClamXtX on editing, Eien on typesetting (because he was always bitching about it) and probably mints on QC.

What do you think of Power Rangers?

I used to record it every morning when I was a kid so I could watch it after school

When will you start playing your Japanese video games all in Japanese? By PS Store or importing or whatever

Console games can't be hooked, so the answer is basically "whenever I'm good enough that reading them isn't a gigantic pain"
I actually beat Grandia 3 in Japanese about ten years ago, but as you can probably imagine, I didn't understand very much.

How did you learn Japanese? Did you take classes or self-study? If the latter, what do you think is the best method to learn without attending classes?

Well, firstly I still don't know very much Japanese. I'm trying to learn what I can from reading, mostly.
I took classes to get started, but that was years and years ago. I didn't progress very quickly, so I lost interest (being given no actual applications for the language besides class exercises will do that to you). I learned a lot more over the last few years of fansubbing than I did in all the time I spent before that.
Honestly, the best method to learn is simply immersion. Learn the basics from something like Tae Kim's guide at http://www.guidetojapanese.org/ and then just try to read and watch as much as you can. VNs/eroge are good because you can hook out kanji and words you don't know (which in my case is nearly all of them). Once you have a bit of familiarity, try to watch raw anime too. I'm watching Yatterman raw this season (even though I don't understand anywhere close to all of it) because it's a relatively simple show and I need the practice. Should probably pick up Precure too...

Why does grain bloat the filesize so much?

It's an unpredictable pattern that changes every frame. Kind of hard to compress that.

Oh? You finally encoding Shirobako's BDs or just taking a look?

Taking a look for now. Gonna work things out with Cthuko's encoder later.

not sure if you're the guy to bug about this, but the search function in aoi-chan isn't working. It's just listing a single page of a bunch of (but not all) the files.

If you mean Hii, you'd have to ask Aoi-chan as I don't run it.

Do you know who FFF's staff for "Sekai Seifuku ~Bouryaku no Zvezda~" was?

You'll find out if they ever batch it, but iirc it was like
TL: CR/Aniplex
TLC: Futsuu
Editing: Nevreen
Timing: archdeco?
Typesetting: trichinas
Karaoke: cardslash02
Encoding: Eien?
QC: idk

Do you know where I can find official lyrics of anime? Trying to find some for certain shows.

kasi-time.com is the site I usually use, though they have a bunch of dumb anti-copypaste protection and will apparently be uploading lyrics on a 1-3 month delay going forward for some reason. Maybe it's time I looked for a new site myself...

Isn't it a waste to download anime in 1080p?

What are you wasting? I have unmetered internet and a lot of HDD space, so for me it's usually easier to just download the 1080p than to figure out if it's actually worth it or not.
Most shows tend to have onscreen text and postprocessing effects (grain, etc) in 1080p if nothing else, anyway. And more and more are being mastered in resolutions above 720p too.

What release should I go with for FMA:B? There's coalgrisl which I wouldn't mind, a-S and [AtsA]. Also sub or dub?

I just watched Eclipse's TV release lol

Why does CGi's Bakemonogatari's audio sound so shut compared to ANE's? It's no where near as clear and crisp.

they might have re-encoded or dithered it or something dumb, idk
