So, in reality, fansub's BD encodes (the good ones, like yours, FFF's etc) are actually better quality than if you were to watch the original BDs? Like here http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/107367#_=_
That's the aim, yeah. When you encode you can apply antialiasing, sharpening (within reason), debanding, and so on, and you can encode in 10bit which preserves gradients much more efficiently than the 8bit BDs. I definitely wouldn't want to watch the Shirobako BDs straight because they look terrible without heavy filtering.
If you took a BD, ripped what ever's on it off and then watched the actual BDMV, would it be the same quality as if you put the actual disk into your bluray player and watched it like that?

1) Is that seriously the source? It looks wrong, like it got badly upscaled by VLC or something. How are you taking these shots?
2) Use the same frame for comparisons or it's kind of pointless
3) That filter looks terrible. Use LSFMod if you need to sharpen.

Hi Xythar, how you do your anime_keyframes.log file for timing?
For BD encodes I just put scxvid("whatever_keyframes.log") in the avs file since I generally do those in one segment.
For TV encodes (which I usually do in multiple segments), I make the keyframes after the encode is finished using the batch file here: http://unanimated.xtreemhost.com/scxvid.htm

How much do you spend for servers/xdcc/seeding and the like? Or rather, what exactly is your setup like?
I have a single online.net server for all of the above (ftp, server-side encoding, and the rest). It costs 72 eur per month but the cost is split between a few people.

I've never done tests. If you're losing frames with it on it will probably be fairly obvious since the motion won't be smooth anymore.
