What script do you use for deinterlacing MPEG2 and H.264 (AT-X) sources? You posted one for MPEG2 here, but I don't have it and can't find it anymore. And it somehow doesn't worked with AT-X, when I tried it a long time ago.

I just use the standard TIVTC filters (TFM and TDecimate). They should work fine for both. Here's what I do to IVTC Valkyrie Drive (which is AT-X), for example:
dgsource("../valkyrie04.dgi")
Trim(1752,6606)+Trim(6906,44666)
tfm(pp=6, clip2=nnedi3())
tdecimate(mode=1)
If it's not working for you, you might be loading in the .ts the wrong way. Standard tools like DGMPGDEC don't work for h.264 stuff so you'll want to either use DGNV (if you have an NVIDIA card) or something like:
lwlibavvideosource("..\daimidaler12.ts", repeat=true).assumefps(30000,1001)
if you don't. See http://avisynth.nl/index.php/LSMASHSource

what is your opinion about "nnedi3_resize16(1280, 720)" ?

i usually just use spline36resize to downscale unless i'm using debicubic or whatever. seems like a waste of time to use nnedi3 when you're not upscaling

Does Vivid have the BDMVs for Owari no Seraph? If you do, would it be asking too much if I request you to put it on nyaa (or provide a temporary DDL)? I need it for storage purposes.

I don't, sorry. They are out there though.

Would you translate "gyaru" as "bimbo"? Maybe something else or would it be better to leave as it is?

Not really. It has more of a punk/fashionista meaning. I saw 'fashionista' previously in one of the Danganronpa translations and it works

what filters do you consider useful, most of the time, to encode BD's?

gradfun3, f3kdb, maa2, eedi3_rpow2, lsfmod, debicubic (probably not all of them at once!)

Do you know if kfdss'll sub the umaru-chan oad?

yeah, lyger already has the DVD and it's at translation right now

Do you thing it's a good idea to convert yen to dollars when subbing anime, or is it a bad one?

exchange rates vary over time, so it seems like a poor move

any Kekkai updates? Thanks!

nope, still at vale
it's not even a very good ending anyway so don't get your hopes up

What's with the avatar change on twitter? I couldn't recognize you without a big scary Utsuho picture.

it's changed just for today in recognition of Throwback 'Tober

have played any of the smt games other than persona ones?

i finished nocturne, played a bunch of strange journey, a bit of devil summoner 2 and digital devil saga (didn't finish them though)

Yeah of course it wouldn't be the best, but wouldn't a 720p 10bit re-encode look better than Reinforce's 1080p encodes? Just like a 720p 10bit re-encode from CR's 1080p.

only if the original raw had issues with banding that could be fixed with a re-encode (and i doubt it would be any better than just using madvr's deband filter) and no detail above 720p.
either way, it would be easily beaten by someone with access to the source. it's hard to justify doing such an encode when the actual BDs are out - even if you personally don't have access to them, someone else might. the only reason people re-encode CR is because there is no better source at the time.
like, let me put it this way: technically, all fansub encodes are re-encodes of something, whether it's the original tv stream, the cr video, or a bd. but the very least you can try to do is re-encode the source and not something that's already been re-encoded because then you have two generations' worth of information loss. comparing re-encoding someone else's already encoded bds to re-encoding cr is a false equivalence on several levels because it doesn't take into account generational loss or the sources actually available.
basically, don't re-encode bds. if you don't have access to the bdmvs but someone else does, maybe you just weren't meant to encode this show. it happens.

Why is Vivid not doing Osomatsu? I can't help but think official subs must be missing the jokes.

because i'm a sensible person who doesn't want to have a ton of work to do
the subs seem fine from what i've watched, anyway. it's just full of references to 60s-70s japanese culture

herkz doesn't seem to grasp the concept of "hypothetical scenario" so I'll ask you instead: Could Reinforce 1080p be a good source for a 720p encode in the hypothetical case a BDMV is not available?

well it obviously is 'available' since they encoded from it
if it wasn't publicly available i would either buy the BDs myself or just do a 1080p only release muxing whatever was available. there aren't really any 'good' sources when you're re-encoding because the product will always be suboptimal.
