does higher resolution always mean higher quality? i know there's more stuff to it like bitrate and whatever but i was just wondering since a lot of people tend to automatically go for something just because it says 1080p. example: old dbz youtube vids at "remastered 2k" resolution.

it really just depends on the quality of the source/master

i guess we'll see then!

If you compare Owari (OP) with Gatchaman (OP), the chance to get the Owari OP song right is higher, or?

definitely. white ash is basically impossible to transcribe by ear whereas we got most of seraph's op right

The less the better IMO, so I go by per sentence. | What about if you have a colon preceding the quotes?

idk. i'd have to see it

Viewster had a song translation for Owari no Seraph, but only for the German sub. However not for all episodes, only for episode 2,3,4,5,10 and 12 (even when all ep's had the same song). When S2 has a full English song too and the German sub has a translation, you can compare yours with them maybe.

yeah, who even knows who the songs will be by, really
but if they're sawano again i think we'll need all the help we can get

They already licenced One Punch Man. So you can get probably official lyrics for that one xD

I don't plan on doing it myself, but that might be handy

http://ask.fm/Xythar/answer/131770681976 Sadly they don't. Another publisher has the rights for it. Okay, for S1 only, but I think they buy S2 too (Universal Pictures Germany). ;_; - Is Seraph the only show from Vivid next season?

seraph and likely gochiusa, but I'm pretty sure lyger will want to do the songs himself for that

And if you think about buying an episode for about $1 (which is not that expensive), because there is no OP/ED in the first one. They change every episode Lyrics <-> Translation. So ep1 is with lyrics, ep2 with song translation, ep3 with lyrics etc.

Ah, kinda like Funi then

Here: https://www.anime-on-demand.de/ - You need an account and probably a German IP. The first episode is always free (when you've an account), so when there is an OP/ED in the first EP, you can get the lyircs. But not every show has it, only shows from the publisher "Kazé", so let's say about 80%.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I've heard about Kaze before and how they actually have good video, etc

When do i use "will"; when do i use "going to"?

i will ___
i am going to ___
they're almost the same, really. just a slight difference in nuance/formality ('going to' is less formal)

I've a way for you to get official lyrics before the CD is ready to buy. Are you interested or do you've good sources for that too? Like for Gakkou Gurashi. I knew the official lyrics with episode 1. A simulcast company use official lyrics for OP/ED with ep1. Do you know them?

No, I wasn't aware of that outside of when Funi licenses shows and has the lyrics early

Does CR translate the songs in Symphogear?

Most of them, yes. There were a few missing from earlier episodes but lately they've been doing pretty much all of them outside of the OP/ED.

why do people shit on fansubs for its errors/interpretations when it's a free alternative, while mistakes made on the paid end with cr and funi are mostly ignored or not brought up in the conversation?

complaining about fansubs is more likely to have some kind of an effect, i guess
like, people actually care / get into fights / start drama about fansubs because they're closer to the community

What are people talking about when they say the "commercials" in gg's releases? I haven't watched many gg releases since they were before my time, but I never noticed commercials in the releases I watched.

Some of their shows had commercials left in (usually just one or two that the encoder found funny). This was the origin of the whole Morning Rescue meme with Madoka.
That practice kind of died out in gg's last couple of years because by that point all the encodes were being done by me and Jaka and neither of us could be bothered.

What's the best way of handling where the quotation marks go in subtitles? At the beginning and end of each sentence, or each line?

The less the better IMO, so I go by per sentence.

Will Commie at least use Ettin in case they'll sub it?

i have no idea why you're asking me when i give less than zero shits about that show
negative shits, if you will
