Oh, right, I forgot about the Monogatari S2 BDs... Guess it's been that long. Who was TLCing them anyway? I thought futsuu was the original TL, but he's basically dead?

You kinda answered your own question there. But I imagine they'll get done one day.

>ξ(✿ >◡❛)ξ▄︻▇▇〓〓: monogatari when >herkz: When it's TLCed. Was herkz just trolling / making a joke, then?

Probably thought you meant the BDs, which are at TLC (or well, the original translator giving them another pass)

Do you have much time to watch anime anymore since you started fansubbing?

Sure. It's just part of it, really. If I wasn't interested in watching anime anymore I probably wouldn't fansub either.

Do you ever scene filter?

If I need to, yeah. I had to do a bunch of it for Shirobako in particular because the source looks terrible.

Are Shirobako BDs still happening?

Yep, whenever Cthuko gets them shifted, QC'd, and released. I've encoded two volumes so far and will do the third over the next few days.

Why do people care about debanding their encodes when madvr does it already?

You can obviously get much better results when you don't have to deband in real time. I don't even use madVR's except as a last resort when the source already has issues.

How do you use an apostrophe with a word like "bosses"? Say something is owned by the bosses, would you use "bosses'"?

bosses' or bosses's, though I prefer the former

Entitled leechers who throw a hissy fit at the slightest deviation from their literal chinese cartoon scripts are the loudest and most obnoxious. Kudos for being able to deal with them. The majority of your fans are quiet but very thankful for all the great work over the years.

Sure, no prob. That's the philosophy I've always gone by - I make stuff the way I like it, and people with the same tastes as me can download it.

Is there a clear-cut reason as to why fansubbing has this much drama? How can translating Chinese cartoons cause such grief and turmoil?

This is basically what happens when your content is generated by the community.

Not more or less faulty than improvised scriptwriting.

If you can't "scriptwrite", you can't translate.

Let me be clear here: _every_ translation is "scriptwriting". Even if you limit yourself to the exact dictionary definition of every word you encounter, you're still "scriptwriting". You're just doing a bad job of it.
No matter what you do, you're rewriting the original text by sheer virtue of converting it into English. Whether you write a good script or a bad script is up to you.
