No, zoid9000 is TLCing them and I'm going over the scripts again, so there's still a bit of work to do on my end.

Not really. The only reason I want to step down the amount I do is because I'm back to working full-time and I'd like to be able to do other things as well with my spare time. Gotta strike a balance, etc

Is Seraph/Kekkai the first time someone masks a Funi release? Do you think it's worthy (regardless what your encoder thinks about it)?

It's probably the first time in English. I believe he's done it for at least one Italian group before (eg Omnivium's Zankyou no Terror). And yeah, I think it's pretty revolutionary.

Most translators have learned Japanese as a second language. Editors don't have to know any, but it helps.

Assuming someone was okay with the idea of paying for legal anime streams in the first place, would you say Funimation's service is worth the cost overall, or are its problems just too significant?

It seems less worth it than CR but I dunno. Most of their stuff is only available in the US so I haven't tried their service.

4K res is exactly double that of 720p so each pixel can simply be doubled in size without fancy scaling

The merits are if you need to target a specific filesize. If you don't, there is no point and you should use CRF instead, which is one-pass by nature.

Could you teach me how you're supposed to use "—" in subs? If it's too much trouble linking some article will do fine. And I don't mean when the subs cut off, I'm talking about the other use. When it feels awkward to use comma or full stop.

I tend to use them instead of semicolons and whenever you're writing things so that the second sentence provides an alternative or parenthetical take on the first. It's kinda hard to explain but you can see a lot of them in, say, UBW 20.
