I'm not exactly sure on how to word this best, but what factors into taking liberties when subbing? Is it as simple as genre (Like Comedy vs Drama for example), or is it a combination of things (This isn't some jab to imply subs are something like "meme subs")?

If you want to look at it that way, I suppose. More ridiculous lines fit better in comedies where the purpose is to be funny. Just compare earlier episodes of Neptunia with later ones where everything gets all serious business.

Depends on the context, really. Most people can still figure out what you mean.

I've had similar issues. I ended up just using different fonts.

They're both pretty hard to find at this point, but the TS part has a lower barrier of entry. It's more just that most people don't want to do it.

The latter, assuming they know Japanese well enough to translate. Understanding the text perfectly won't do you any good if you can't express it in the target language.

Do you know kfx? We all know Lyger is the best but there was also that one guy from FFF who did some great jobs too (Zvezda coming to mind). Also, props to Commie's romaji fx when they put some effort into it (rip Tehshower).
