I think the real problem with the pronoun issue is that the English language has gender-specific pronouns to begin with. As someone whose native language has gender-neutral pronouns and no grammatical gender those things have always felt really dumb to me.

It can't be helped.

Wait. So Kristen is really transgender?

I'm not really sure what Kristen's offline gender identity is, but it doesn't really matter. If someone asks for a particular pronoun to be used in reference to them online, it's not like it costs anything to honour their request.

Are you watching Ninja Slayer with HorribleSubs' (Funimation's) or Viewster's Subs?

Watched ep1 with both. Gonna watch the rest with Viewster because it's worth the 480p. Would be even cooler if someone typed them out and slapped them on CR's HD video available to non-english countries, hint hint.

>The Viewster subs don't need editing. They're perfect as they are Okay, then. TL: Viewster; Editor: Torn (Edit like Fate Stay/Night xD); Timer: skiddiks; Typeset: You (Just try it, if you aren't a typesetter)

Yeah I'm not typesetting that it has like a billion signs.

But why is jdp an asshole? And how is it then possible to working together? I mean you, herkz and jdp are Commie's.

It's a long story and not a particularly relevant one.
I've never worked with jdp on a show and herkz hasn't since Space Brothers ended.

>Ninja Slayer Then save it together with skiddiks. Please! TL: Viewster; You: Editor; Skiddiks: Timer; Typeset: ? (You'll find anyone)

The Viewster subs don't need editing. They're perfect as they are

what shows this season are you most interested in so far?

I guess Sidonia, Kekkai Sensen, Plastic Memories, Show By Rock, Ninja Slayer, Punchline, Yamada

"treat trans people like people" I don't think that you want this. You want them to be treated as special.Normal people are being bullied, killed and etc.Yeah,it sucks, but your gender or whatever doesn't give you sp.privileges.One of my favs http://rs2img.memecdn.com/im-ugly-and-im-proud_c_1090697.jpg

Feel free to read this:
http://freethoughtblogs.com/greta/2014/11/01/peter-boghossian-and-what-gay-pride-actually-means/
and tell me what the privileged people in the image are so proud about. Are they proud that they don't have to deal with discrimination? That they won't be assaulted or killed solely for being who they are? That they can live their lives without being undermined every day and portrayed as a joke in almost all media?
When you contrast that with what's written in the article, seems like kind of an assholish thing to be proud of, eh?

When is the last time you've had a burger?

Earlier this week? I'm going to go have one in an hour or two though

I'm familiar with what the author posted. But still, my previous point - it's like "the boy who cried wolf". Since a few years back I've been hearing "transphobic", "misogynist", "racist", "ableist" or even "misandrist". Most times I care to check, it's being misconstrued. I'm just growing cynical.

Well, regardless of our feelings, the problems still exist. That's all I can say.

Have you ever stopped and thought "What if I'm wrong and I'm the jerk, not Kristen"?

Sure, all the time. That's why I try not to do or say things I could never take back.
Odds are it's Kristen, though.

My main problem with the PoE limerick drama is that the PoE game world is *awful*. There are massacres left and right, people are racist, misogynist, etc. To raise all this drama about a joke, and nothing else? Especially since it's the only limerick I've found in-game that actually fits the world.

It's still backer-contributed content, so it's not part of the world. And there's a difference between things that are portrayed as part of the world and things that are outside of it. Feargus Urquhart wrote a statement about it here:
http://www.polygon.com/2015/4/10/8383627/pillars-of-eternity-transphobic-kickstarter-hate-feargus-urquhart
Anyway, the PoE thing is well and truly done and dusted and this point and I don't know if further debate will be all that productive. I think the main takeaway from it is to listen instead of preaching and accept that harm is still harm even if it's unintentional.

Yeah, I agree completely. Thing is, that I've been becoming increasingly cynical when it comes to people calling others -ists online. When I look into why, they were being misconstrued. See all the drama around the Pillars of Eternity limerick being transphobic when it's not even about trans people.

I have to disagree with you about the PoE thing because regardless of authorial intent, it still perpetuates a meme (for the lack of a better word) that does lead to violence toward trans women. Intentional or not, if people are hurt by something, you have to be responsible for that. This is one case where I think we need to sit down and listen instead of telling other people what they should think.
And in the case of PoE, the game literally lost nothing from having it changed, so there was really no reason not to.

Then why do you call Kristen a he? Either believe in genders and call transgendered people what they believe they are, or stop being a hypocrite.

I don't do that either. I may have a couple of times in the past, but remember what I said about trying to be a better person?

Oh. I didn't read the beginning of the debacle. Recently I've been getting the feeling that anything you say around marginalized groups might be misconstrued by someone to label you an -ist and you're basically forced to walk on eggshells around them (see #gamergate). Nevermind, then...

I think most reasonable people would agree that everyone makes mistakes and a slip-up or two isn't necessarily worth being burned at the stake for. The important thing to me is how you handle criticism - do you double down and get defensive or do you own it, take it on board, and try to be a better person?

I wasn't saying that they weren't important. It's just that I don't think they deserve special treatment when compared to any other marginalized group. Of course I'll treat them with respect (including gendering them how they want), but it's insulting to them to walk on eggshells around them...

Who said anything about eggshells? This whole debate started because I objected to someone suggesting "natural" as an alternative for "cis". If you think that's walking on eggshells then I don't even know
