Hi Xythar, any idea if AnimeNOW's BD release of "Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta" is any good? I am not familiar with the reputation of the group, but I see they used Cthuko's subs which got A+ on Nyaa. AnimeNOW isn't even trusted though.

Do you know what's worse than reactionaries crying "CENSORSHIP!"? reactionaries crying out "HYPOCRITE!" when it comes to what was allowed and what was not allowed in a localization. Nevermind the fact that rating standards are imperfect across all forms of media including games.

About Freedom Wars and Oreshika: they used Asian localizations, the translation is filled with typos and inconsistencies and no English dub is present even though Sony always provides one for all their Japanese games when localized.

re: GuP releases, what's wrong with Femme's? It has Commie's subs as the alt (granted they are the NFA ones). Also, what makes you say Hiryuu has the better TL?

Why did Sony half-ass their localizations for their most recent Vita games? They're never this bad. Even Soul Sacrifice got better treatment than what Oreshika and Freedom Wars got.

i suspect hiryuu probably has the better translation anyway, but i do like commie's terminology and style more than anyone else's

How long do you wait on a likely better quality release before giving up and watching a shittier one?

i usually just watch the first release i consider acceptable and will wait as long as it takes for that (or just drop the show since i don't see the point in watching with a bad translation)

Would you ever want to live in a world where Japanese games only have these "literal" Asian localizations? Sounds like a GooberGator's wet dream.

Any thoughts on Arc Rise Fantasia's localization? It's considered to be one of the worst translations in recent memory.

I wouldn't know about the translation itself (it didn't seem horrible, english-wise) but the voice acting was hilariously awful. I just played the undub.

Heard of Lux-Pain on the DS and its horrible translation? The voice acting dialog and text dialog don't even match well!

i have. sounds like the entire process was a complete mess from start to finish
i actually know someone who got approached to translate various parts of the game but i don't think they even used his work in the end

i've listened to like two funi dubs ever so i have no idea
